Student Profile: Shivanie Gangarum

My necklace is very important to me because it was given to me by people I love. My aunt from Canada gave me the necklace 5 years ago, and ever since then, I have worn it everyday. The only time that I would take off my necklace is when I wear another necklace to match my outfit or when I have to go out somewhere really fancy. Having my necklace on reminds me that I will always have my family with me no matter how far they are. Speaking about distance, I also have 2 pendants that were given to me by my aunts that live in Canada and Guyana. The first pendant is the letter S which represents the first letter of my name and the second pendant has another S but it also has the Om sign, which is the symbol of my religion. Even though I barely see my family in Guyana and Canada, my necklace makes me feel like they are still close to me no matter how far they live or where I am.
