Networking Event

On September 30, from 6 pm to 9 pm, I want to a networking event called Crowdfunding networking. It was at WeWork on 28th street and 7 th ave. The building number was 79 Madison Ave in Manhattan. Below is an example of ticket and  business cards that I  get from WeWork and Tan2000 International Holdings Corporation(Tan HC).

It was in the middle of the street and in a tall building. If you were not looking for it you would not find it. It was on the 3rd floor in a kind of conference room. It was huge but very different. There was a bar, chairs, couches, and games like paddle ball. Here are some images of the place inside:

It was interesting because I never saw a room like that in a professional office. I was so overwhelmed by the event and how many people were there. It was very intimating.

This crowdfunding event brought about a lot of professionals from varies fields. I just felt like everyone was so many steps ahead of me that I had a hard time connecting to people. It was a learning experience.Between 6 to 7 pm there was networking. At 7 pm to 7:30 pm there were experts that give a short description of what they do. At 7:30 pm to 9 pm more was more networking.

WeWork sponsored the event and is a business within business. WeWork basically helps freelances get their own independent space and offices. WeWork makes it financially possible to be your own boss. The experts at this event was Alex Feldman, Amanda Barbara ,and Aaron Kellner.

Alex Feldman helps small businesses with raising money online. He is CEO of CrowdsUnite which is the largest review site for funding platforms. Amanda Barbara is a global crowdfunding publishing platform for authors to raise funds and gauge the audience for new book ideas, and for trendsetting readers to pledge their financial support to bring books to life. Aaron Kellner is an investment executive of SeedInvest which is an equity-based, crowdfunding platform that connects accredited investors to high-quality start-ups and small businesses seeking funding. When each of them wanted to talk they had to stand on wooden platform because their was no microphone and was very loud. Alex Feldman was the first to talk and make his speech.

Before all these experts started to talk the other individuals that come to the networking event was mingling. Since this was my first real networking event I just sit there was was wanting for people to come to me.That really does not work. As night want on I started getting up and mingling.

I connected to the person from Tan HC the most because he was young like me and it was his first networking event. He was also shy but after talking for a while it become easier to talk to me. He even gave me advise on other networking events to go to which can give me some great experience and get me known to more industry individuals. It would help me get myself more out there.

From going to the networking event I learned that I need to open up more and connect better to be. I need to stop being so nerve and put myself more out there.
