Visual Quotes

quote1

“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.”

– Buddha

This quote attributed to Buddha expresses how the truth will eventually be revealed no matter how long it may be uncovered. The analogy of the sun and moon are used to give truth the characteristic of those celestial bodies that may disappear momentarily but always rise again. The image I used to visually enhance and represent the quote is that of a sunset and overhanging moon to show them both revealed as referenced by the quote.

quote2

“What’s done cannot be undone”

– Shakespeare

This quote by Shakespeare taken from Macbeth is clearly stating that anything that has happened cannot be erased from history. I believe this quote is more of a message to people to not harbor regret and just get on with the future. The photo I showed to represent this quote is that of deforestation where one side shows a lush green forest of trees and the other bare plain land representing that our choices cannot be undone and we will have to live with the consequences.

quote3

“You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”

– Columbus

This quote by Christopher Columbus is describing how a person needs the courage to removes yourself  from ones comfort zones in life in order to achieve true progress and accomplish a goal. I chose an image of turbulent waters with a mountain range in the distance representing a treacherous journey one may take but with the accomplishment in sight.
