Problem #1: Sandwich Shop

Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich

For this project, we had to create specific instructions to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so that it looked similar to the photos from recipes and other websites. Once my group, which was with Daniela and Sarah received this assignment, we thought about splitting our jobs ups and my job was to draft the peanut butter and jelly on autocad. Sarah was assigned to making budgets and buying items, and Daniela was assigned to making the instructions. Even though we chose to split our assignments up, we all shared our thoughts on each other and made sure we weren’t missing anything and made sure to create the instructions thinking from the actor’s perspective and act like we didn’t know how to create a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

One of the problems we had when creating our paperwork was we tend to overthink and miss the basic instructions. When I was drafting, there were a few basic things that I missed or didn’t think I needed because it was bread that could’ve been came with a different size since we bought it. We also forgot to put in our instructions to clean afterwards and we weren’t specific on how much peanut and jelly was to be put on. What we did  instead was we put a specific amount in each small container and put all of that onto the bread but when we watched the performer act, it was not enough to look like the picture. In the instructions, we didn’t mention how to cut but because the actor saw the drawing, and saw where the direction of the cut should be, the actor was able to successfully cut the sandwich. Overall, our drawings and instructions worked well.

What I would have done differently was to get together and actually make a sandwich because even though it’s a simple project to make, it was hard thinking about specific details.

What I learned from this project was that we shouldn’t have thought too hard into the process of creating a sandwich. Instead we could of physically made the sandwich and step by step write down what we did and draft along the way.
