With the new push from consumers for sustainability and transparency from the apparel industry, many Canadian based companies are focusing on bringing their manufacturing back to Canada. According to Refinery29 large brands like Canada Goose are making large investments in “rebuilding Canada’s manufacturing infrastructure”. While smaller local brands are taking the initiative by producing fabrics and garments in local studios. Doing so helps to create more job opportunities and reinvest back into Canada’s economy (Nuttal, 2020). These brands are doing their part to help transform the apparel industry by focusing on producing quality items that are made by people who are treated respectfully and paid fairly. The complete opposite of mass-market fast fashion brands.
