Whatever

My name is Frank Mason. I am a video gamer, lover of Japanese animation and culture, writer and I consider photography to be my favorite hobby. I am looking forward to obtaining my Bachelors degree in Emerging Media Technology in Summer 2015 while also pursuing my aspiration of becoming a sound engineer (or a DJ). My main focus right now is honing my skills as an Android Developer for the purpose of learning about mobile game development as well as exploring the opportunities of this growing part of the gaming industry. One of my professional goals (and my dream job) is to become a Gameplay Programmer working for Square-Enix. But my main goal for the future is to create my own video game development company creating adventure, platformers, racing, 2D side-scrollers and my favorite, RPG’s (Role-Playing Games).

I am mainly inspired to take this class because in addition to learning about computer programming, I have also been interested in learning more about the design aspects of video game development. I have become intrigued by the concept of 3D modeling and the process that is utilized in creating characters, worlds and how they can be used to enhance storytelling and bring to life the game born from your imagination. And so I wish to learn more about 3D modeling to make my own characters and environments that I can one day call my own and opening doors to the many more creative opportunities that lie ahead by using such great programs such as Blender, Maya and Sculptris.

Suly’s Intro

CodeAcademy: JadeH00D
GitHub: SParedes9

My name is Suly and I am one of the few females in the world who actually is interested in not only Video Game playing, but also Video Game developing. I also would like to create my own animated series. Once Pixar began expanding their films in 3D form, and went out of the 2D world, I’ve been very much interested in creating my own 3D animation as well as VR game. There are a number of Video Games and cartoon animations that pushed my interest in 3D creation, but my main reason was because of this game……..ENJOY!

Jesus’s Introduction Post

What’s up fellow classmates and professor Baker. My name is Jesus Santos and I am an emerging media and Tech major, The reason why i chose to take this course was to find out my interests and to really discover my passion. I love video games and Love admiring the artwork. But I really want to know how to get a game to do  what it does. I look forward to developing my coding skills and hopefully learn a thing or two about python, not to mention I’m looking forward to learning git coding as well.

Dimple’s Introduction

Hi, my name is Dimple. I have always been fascinated by the gaming industry. Playing games are definitely fun but having to create them is somehow more appealing. I enjoy playing video games such as the Uncharted series, Far Cry 3, Dead Island, etc – games that have plenty of 3D Environment in it. I do not have much experience in 3D Modeling, however I would like to dive in more into the programming aspect. The main purpose I enrolled in this course is because it offers scripting and programming 3D Environments. Unity3D and Second Life are examples that inspired me to take this class. My passion for video games have been growing ever since.

Matthew Soto Introduction

Hello everyone, my name is Matthew Soto. My major is emerging media and it is currently my 2nd year and I hope to one work in the video game industry, as either a 3D modeler or a 3D animator, or in the film industry either directing or creating CGI effects. Although I may not have any experience using blender I have used programs similar to it such Autodesk Maya and Sculptris, which is a free 3D sculpting program. Sculptris is probably the one I use the most because I love it and I am currently teaching myself how to sculpt and I have created things,  such as an archery bow, faces, and body designs. What I hope to accomplish from this class is being able to further progress my skills in 3D modeling and animation.

Hello ladies, gentlemen, and Prof. Baker of MTEC 3320. My name is Virgilio Samo III and I am very proud to meet you all. Why am I here you may ask? Well, let me tell you. I want to dive into what makes games tick and one day create my own original games. My passion started when I was a little boy and for some very odd reason, I quickly became talented, learning the game as if was spelled out to me. Anyway, what got me interested in Interactive 3d is one classic video game: Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid. The game has a VR training simulator and I always wondered how the creator achieved that feature since. I do have a lot of computer experience which did helped me master various programs such as Javascript. Not only that, I also had experience with my cousin Xbox Kinect which really made me want my own.

Here is a link to the game’s VR version (part of it, of course):

Hello fellow classmates and Prof. Baker my name is Jonathan and I am taking this class because I have always wanted to make some sort of video game. In high school I mess around with Maya and learn the basics of modeling and animation. I went to college thinking I wanted to progress with these skills but I seem to have taken to programing a little bit more. Which is completely okay because modelling and animation can be VERY tedious work after a while. I hope to get an understanding  of how game engines work and how they can be used not just for video games but to make other types of interactive art. One idea i am coming into this class with is making a VR movie using the oculus rift or some other VR head set that will react when the person moves their head. Its a pretty simple idea but making a short animated film can take a while but it should be possible to get a framework for an in game camera and the oculus rift to interact with each other.
