The Garden Club is having a Pumpkin Decorating event. Come by Namm 206 12:45 – 2:00 and you can have great treats to eat– focaccia, decorated cookies, cider, pumpkin bread and tarts! PLUS you can decorate your own sugar pumpkin, take it home, make it into a pie. {We provide recipes}

Sept 21 PEOPLES CLIMATE MARCH
Students and faculty will join up w/ the Food and Ag Coalition and march in their kitchen whites. It will be a strong visual statement. The UN members meeting in NYC will get the message that chefs and cooks want a sane energy policy to maintain a food friendly climate.

Wednesday 2/26; room 201 Namm bldg. Meet to discuss seed planting strategies for the spring. What, when, how, and who.
Fall Harvest Cooking Demo, and Tasting
October 24th Namm 206, 12:45- 2:00
Featuring cooking demos by Garden club members Dah wei Charng, Jeung Park, and Tristen Vail. These student culinarians will make use of produce from the Hospitality garden to produce new and unique dishes. Some of the vegetables on the menu are butternut squash, mustard greens, tomatoes and Swiss chard (along w/ various herbs).
The rest of us will taste & enjoy.

Times and dates for planting and harvesting at the Hospitality Garden are listed on the Garden Calendar. Access to the rooftop garden is through the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Pickle Barrels to Compost Tumblers
a workshop and workout: we will convert huge pickle barrels into tumblers to handle all the vegetable waste from culinary classes. Because this vegetable material will be in a tumbler it will aerate well and break down into compost much quicker than the traditional mound. (Less insect swarming too)
