Why should you submit your own work every time

1. Historians are professional investigators of the past…the likelihood that you will not be caught is almost zero
2. You are an honest person with integrity
3. An honest C/D or even F is always better than an F in the course
4. The consequences are very steep.

What are the consequences in this course for cheating/plagiarism
1. ANY instance of cheating or plagiarism will result in an F in the course.
2. The incident will be reported to the academic integrity committee and a letter will be sent home for the first offense at CITY TECH.

How do I avoid  plagiarism?

1. Learn what plagiarism is.
2. Speak to the professor.
3. Cite all of your sources.
4. Check your work.

How do I avoid cheating during an exam and on all assignments?

1.  All exams are essay based exams so your answers must be based on your thoughts from the readings assigned to you, my  assignments and nothing else.
2. You may not upload or share your work with students or on websites. You may not use work uploaded or shared.
3. Don’t memorize information from the internet or paraphrase ideas that are not your own without citation. It is easy to track, and this is actually plagiarism.
4. Do not have someone else take the exam for you.
5. This is not an exhaustive list and any form of cheating that gives students an unfair advantage over others not listed in the above list will have the same consequences.
6. Do not share information via messages of any kind.
7. Do not solicit your classmates for answers in person or electronically.
8. Do not establish online groups such as what’s app or on snapchat for the purpose of copying answers.
