Michael Kenna Steam Rising, New York City, USA, 2000

This photo really speaks to me. I feel like he captures the perfect moment of the steam around the building. Being in new york city , he took a photo with no other buildings around just the one in the middle. This photo makes me like new york is gotham city from the dark knight movies. The photo being in black in white makes it more of sad and disturbing feeling. Like I wouldn’t want to live there, but at the same time I really like the dark mood it giving me.

The photographer used a black and white photo with having the building symmetrical with the steam around it. He used a birds eye view, looking straight up the building, standing on the sidewalk. The background is very empty, just having the gray scale tone.
