Drawing with light allows you to expose your image sensor enough to track the light and you can really be creative having a dynamic range of ways you can portray and compose the light. My shutter speed in this particular images was set to 20 sec long.

Best Painting with Light Photo

I think this was our best photo because it came out pretty well considering how hard it is to paint with light. It took many attempts to get to this photo, and the two-tone color was completely an accident, but it makes the photo better. The shutter speed was 8 seconds and we used one of the color films.

Painting with light

Painting with light was the most interesting assignment. with the difficulties my group had with our background this photo came out great. When painting with light, after the camera and strobe light captures the subject, they can then move n begin to draw with a light source with a long shutter speed. the photo reminds me of the sprint ad we seen in class. a outline glare around the subject looks like action & Ā represent speed.

I picked these two pictures because they both show some kind of emotion. The first one is at a really high angle and I think really brings out the confused feeling the shes trying to show. In the second image I really like how the light is really dim with a black background because it gives more of that sad feeling to the image.

This picture was one of the better ones because it was the closest to capturing the illusive view for this section of class photography. The light does seem a little too bright but the expression is fun and goofy which goes along with the theme of this type of photography.

This photo was one of the better ones because of the shadow covering half of the face. It produces a very striking result and a broad light/short light combo. The expression isn’t the best for this type of shoot; it should be more serious, but it is saved by the lighting. The photograph as a whole is almost creepy; a psycho plotting the next move. The lighting on the eye assists with this to create a very odd feel.

Three point Lighting

Today in class we discussed the importance of light when taking photos of a person. By placing the light in certain areas it can change the overall feel of the photograph. For instance setting up the light source in a way that it creates “Broad Light” will create great highlights on the subjects face and hair. Next the “Fill Light” used with an object that reflects will lighten the dark areas on the face of the subject. And lastly “Background Lighting” will give not only brighten the background, it will also make the subject appear as if he or she is glowing. That is just some of what we learned today, as it illustrates the importance of light when take portrait pictures.

These two images are my best because of the great sense of focus. Both images show a beautiful point of view. For Example, the first image gives a pleasant vibeĀ to the photo, with the talent smiling at the audience. The image also shows beautiful eye contact from talent to viewer, better than the others. The second image gives a flawless example of exaggeration. The pose brings a formal and unique structure to the image. Both images show eye contact and brings a uplifting and powerful feeling to the audience.

Portrait Lighting for Mood

The first photograph is take only one light at the right. The post and the lighting makes it a depressed and sad feeling. the second one is taken with a back light and left and right light. The light in the back drags attention to the subject and the subject’s expression is happy that makes the composition a happy scene.

Portrait Lighting for Mood

I selected these two photos of Chris because I feel that they are the strongest. The lighting in the full body length photograph highlights the features on his face and shoulder. There is also a shadow casted because of the position of the light. Due to the angle of this shot (birds eye view), there is a sense of foreshortening. The second image that I selected is very melancholy, his facial expression is composed of agony and depression. Also the lighting in this image adds to the sad mood, because half of his face is darkened.

1st picture 2nd picture

i believe these pictures are the best because they show a lot of emotion. the fist picture uses a spot light and adds more of a dramatic feeling to the picture. the second picture has alot of contrast still using a serious pose, for me it feels more like a romantic seriousness instead or a angry sad seriousness.
