Gallery trip

The first gallery was the Pace Gallery and the photographer was Irving Peen. I like how the photographer used a lot of black and white photos to show at the Gallery. Many of those pictures were also of people. I think the black and white gives a certain mood to the person in the photograph. There were a lot of pictures for magazines also and I really like the one with the football on the woman’s head in one of the magazines.

The next gallery we went to, there were many animals in black and white. Many of the pictures show the animals doing something for example an animal was just killed by another animal with blood still on its mouth. The photographs were mainly closeups to show the detail in the animals face/body but there were some long shots with animals in the background.

In the Mary Boon Gallery, the pictures were taken by Robert Polidori. The pictures were interior shots of old buildings. Many of the pictures showed patterns of the walls and how the room looked like. Some pictures make it seem that maybe the building was under construction because of the ripped wallpaper. The building also seems to be made in the 18th century.

I really liked looking at Susan Derges work because it was made by using light to make the image she wanted. Many images looks like actual pictures. There was one with the bridge and the moon in the background which look very real but was made with light sensitive paper and water. She also used foliage to make the leaves appear on the picture.

Olivo Barbieri toke many landscape pictures. Many photographs in the gallery were taken in the mountains and showing people climbing them. All the photographs had many un-textured parts. I don’t understand why there had to be un-textured parts in the pictures. The snow was just covered with plain white and you can even see the snow and he just let the people in the photograph be shown.

The last gallery was really cool with many shots taken right after sunset. There is also a person in many of the pictures that show very little emotion in their faces. Most of the shots were medium to full shots. Also many of the pictures were outside where the light right after sunset effected the mood of the pictures. It almost felt like the 80’s with many of the pictures taken inside because it seemed very similar to pictures taken during the time and also similar to many movie shots during that time.
