IMG_4983IMG_5026These were the two pictures I chose. My definition of Depth of Field is the amount of subjects that are in focus . Shallow has only one subject in focus where every other object is blurred out. Extensive allows you to have multiple subjects in focus while being at different focal lengths. For the top photo I put my camera in AV mode then put my focal length to its maximum so that i could take a picture of things both near and far while bing perfectly focused. The bottom picture has the shortest focal length which was f4.0, being that i have a camera with a multi-angle display i was able to get my camera very close to the water and see the camera auto focus. In this case the closest thing to me was in focus. Honestly, i would use both DOF it depends on the situation i use it. I like the fact that with shallow you can focus a one subject without the worry of things that might be behind it i feel like it has such a great impact to be able to get so close to something and have it framed by blurriness. Extensive would be great if I wanted to have a main subject be in focus and still be able to keep other objects in focus if i couldn’t get as close as i would like to. Its great for much bigger objects.
