I am a freshman at New York City College of Technology, and major in Hospitality Management. As an immigrant in United States, I have to go over the difficulties within the society, and to meet different people from different countries. When I adapted into the society, I aware that there are a lot of different cultures and interesting places in the country. To explore these places become my hobby. In addition, I love to travel around the world to explore different life style from different countries; to study their cultures; and to improve my knowledge about the world. Life is diverse; the world is full of adventure. You never know what is out there, until you see and experience it. That’s why I am interested in Hospitality Management; because it includes the job of tourism and that I can learn different cultures by travel around the World! Besides, I hope I can promote tourism to all over the world after I graduate.

I am majoring in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Culinary Arts. My goal is to become an executive chef and open my own restaurant as well. I had a couple experiences in the restaurant industry, with the help of C-CAP (Careers Through Culinary Arts Program) I’ve worked at Skadden Arps Cafe as an kitchen intern (which was my first summer internship) and recently, Gotham Bar and Grill as a garde manger intern. With these experiences I had, my passion in this industry and love for the kitchen had grown more. My personal strengths would be, assertive, attentive and a fast learner. But public speaking is what I need to improve on.

Jack Welch said “Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” Taking what Welch said into consideration, as a student i am open to learning many things that will help guide me to achieve the goals I have set for myself. Academically I have achieved the goals I set for my 4 years of high school. Getting through those 4 years was the first goal. It wasn’t just the academic challenges that changed my point of view, it was the people I met and the teachers that taught me throughout the years. The people who entered my life influenced me to experience new things. I made mistakes along the way but the mistakes I made helped me grow as an individual. School wasn’t just another thing I was forced to do, it became something I knew I needed to achieve the final goal I had set. Academically I motivated myself to surpass all the expectations everyone had for me. By surpassing these expectations I proceeded to graduate and take the next step to get me closer to the career of my choice.
Throughout the years my father has influenced me to take initiative in my life. He has helped me with many things like how to become responsible. My father owns a small business and he gave me my first job. He didn’t favor me because I was his son. He treated me like he would treat every other employee he ever hired:with respect. But he would not tolerate anything that would affect his business. Working for my father was a career experience because I learned how to greet my customers and provide them with the best service possible.
My personal strength is I’m very humorous and outgoing, i also manage to make people laugh. My academic goal in life is to be an owner of a restaurant providing my future customers with the excellent service and delicious food.

I am currently a freshman at New York City College of Technology, and majoring in Hospitality Management. As a Chinese immigrant, I am not only able to speak both Chinese and English, but also easily adapt to different cultures from all over the world. What I like in hospitality management is that I can have many opportunities to meet with people from different cultures and get to learn from their ideas or point of views. My mother likes to go out with me to explore delicious food and different places since I was a little kid, and that makes me want to know more about the beauty of the world. As Auguste Rodin said, “Beauty is found everywhere. Our eyes do not show a lack of sense of beauty, but a lack of observation.” People always rush in their life to avoid wasting time or try to do more things, but they are missing the cloudless diamond sky, shinny sunshine, colorful flowers or the person who love them at the same time. I have a box to collect all tickets; I have a hard drive to put all my pictures in; I have a journal to write down every memorable thing happen in my daily life, when I look back, I feel so grateful for everything I have in my life. I believe that I am a well-mannered and organized young woman and I am always ready to face challenges. Although I am still confused about my future life, I am sure that I am ready to be an adventurer in my study of hospitality management.
