36 Hours in Istanbul

Mathew Mennella

Reading 36 Hours in Istanbul makes me want to visit that city! Just off of the pictures of how beautiful it is. And the restaurants it describes such as the Far Pavilions seem like the type of place for me! I would love to be a customer at the Ottoman coffee houses (being the coffee enthusiast that i am), and enjoy thick turkish coffee and cakes that i may have never experienced before. The whole scene of Istanbul and thought of being there, and sitting in the Opera houses enjoying Istanbul’s finest theatre entertainment gives me chills. I really want to visit this gorgeous city one day.

I am a freshman student currently enrolled in New York City College of Technology majoring in Hospitality Management. My passion and goal for this major is to know how to serve others the same way i would want to be served. I want to be spoken of highly, for people to speak of me highly, say that when they came to my restaurant they had an amazing time. My goal isn’t to have a good restaurant, its to have the best. The best food, the best service, and the best experience for my future customers. I want to be aggressive in the kitchen and passionate about my results.

You have balance but you can be aggressive as a chef. You have to be passionate. you can’t be                   angry cooking.”      –Marcus Samuelsson
