what really interest me about this section is the fact that martine got pregnant for mac, i don’t believe the pregnancy was more important than the sexual act itself to get pregnant, i say this because i believe that martine only had sex with marc because she believes that her pain from the rape will go away due to simple fact that she has feeling for marc, but she soon realized that every guy she see it only reminds he off the rape and by having this babe with marc will only bring pain and suffering to the child and will create problems within her life and enhance her problems and in some cases i feel like martine blames herself for all that sophie is going through because the problems is within martine and then sophie comes along and inherited martine issues and sophie, briggete, and joseph struggles to live as a happy family

what really interest me about this section is how when martine reveal why she tested sophie back in newyork and martine says that it wasn’t nothing about not trusting you but it was more about not knowing what else to do cause her mother did it to her, like i said in class, martine only did it to sophie because its her first time in the position of being a mother so she didn’t know what else to do, but at the same time there is a contradiction between she testing sophie and when her mom use to get tested because the mom hated the test so much that she says that she was basically happy she got rape because the testing stopped, but in return she has to live with these nightmares she has been having and when she came down to haiti it appears that the nightmares has gotten worse

what really interest me about this section of the reading is how martine, sophie mother was so quick to throw her out of her home and send her back home, because she was having sex, her daughter that she waited so long to bring to america is turning into a young lady and just because she is not your lil girl anymore your throw away in some cases i kinda find martine to be a user, here she uses marc to help get sophie to america and then again here she is using sophie as a trophy to make her self look good because she expects sophie to go to school, get a degree and build a life, but she feel that if sophie start to chasing man it will damage herself for success, in other cases i believe martine is scared that sophie will turn out like her and she uses sophie to try and reflect her success that she never had and after she finds out sophie is no longer innocent she no longer wants her

i once said before that the novels we have read so far is more about women suffrage in the world, but i think it more about the weakness a women has for a man, here we see sophie falling for man by the name of joseph twice her change, i think this give us a brief insight that something might be wrong with this crazy guy joseph for wanting such a young girl to be his wife, i believe joseph will end up bringing pain to sophie life, taking advantage of her, but sophist is scared to tell her mother about joseph, but to be honest i don’t believe martine will be mad at sophie because her mother said don’t pick up a guy that won’t do anything for you, you need someone that will help you and joseph being a older man, martine might see joseph as someone who can help sophie moving forward for the best

what really interest me about this section was the scene when marine, sophie mother gave her the doll. i found it really disturbing for a grown women having this connection to a doll, but as i continue to read i realize that the doll symbolizes her strength, because of this doll it made her strong. because the doll symbolizes sophie, as she continue to work, sending money for sophie back home in haiti, the doll was a remembrance for why is she doing what she doing and it reminds her its all for her daughter, when sophie had came to new york, her mother gave her the doll to basically say that this doll got me through the rough times and i hand it over to you cause just as it got me through the rough times it will guide you as well, but what i don’t quite understand is why marine took back the doll from sophie when she found the mothers day card and that it might be for antie tatie?

what i found interesting when i was reading the chapter is that it was very ideal for slave women to get rape in this time period cause just like tituba sophie mother got rape as well, this just open up my eyes that these slavery novel is more than just the rape and cruelty of slaves, but in some cases i see these novels to focus on a time period of when women had it so hard, the books highlight a time period of women suffrage in some cases i see the novels trying to send the point that more than just the slavery around the people of color, women of color everything seem much harder from the brutality, harsh working conditions, and how they are identify as objects and it sends the message that women is a fight all by itself other than the slavery they fight for there people

I’m curious to know what was the main difference between obeah and being a witch growing up in the Caribbean i always though that doing obeah was a form of witch craft, so I’m curious to know what was the ideal difference between obeah man and a witch?, once again we witness here we see people is trying to influence tituba to use her power for evil, when the man say if he was tituba he would make all the witches turn on each other, but to be honest i don’t think that tituba even has the potential to use her power for evil because in a earlier chapter i remember someone ask to tituba to use her power for evil, i believe it was abigeal, but tituba then mention later that evil is not something you do its something your born with, and thought the book all we witness is tituba helping people and in some cases motivate them, so tituba has not one evil spirit in her, so can tituba really use her power for evil?

What really interest me about this section of the reading is the character of tituba because throughout tituba Life she seeks love and how this night may affect her character is because in many occasions she calls John Indian “weak””, but some cases I see tituba just as weak as John Indian. Tituba weakness is her sexual desires, and her lust of love because when she meets John Indian she wants to run off with him and in doing so she puts herself in slavery and here we see willing to run off with the Jew. Which would b shun in this time period and possibly get killed. So I find tituba to be her own slavery. Here she is a free women and then due to her weakness of her desire of love, sexuality, and the strength of affection in a man, and created hell for herself.

what i found interesting in reading these few chapters is how tituba and the jew came along to having sex, i keep trying to figure out why and how did that scene even happen knowing that they back grounds are so different from each other, but i came to realize that they both was very vulnerable at the time, at the time tituba miss that love from a man and feeling that “love” that she gets from a man, she wasn’t really attracted to him, but she just imagine that he was john indianthat she misses so much and as far as the jew man he wanted to re kindle his love again by seeing his wife, and out of love and joy he had sex with tituba as a appreciation to his wife as if she was there, i find it interesting under the circumstances and the society they lived in, they would go that far. and every guy tituba comes across she loves them, but she want to say how weak of a man john indian is but she is not that far from him

What really stood out to me was the letter tituba wrote to John Indian saying that she can’t be with him anymore, because she loves him and they make sweet passionate love together, but people like him is the cause of us living such a heart breaking, brutal life of a slave, it takes a turn on how we view tituba and we can make the argument that just maybe tituba is not just sex craving “witch” she appears to be and maybe she is someone who seeks someone just as strong and determine as she because as we read the book we see that she was basically soy rounding with strong individuals in her life. With her mother standing up to the slave master for rapping her, mama yaya who’s spirit and mind is strong, and Yao who strength how caring he is and tituba describing his love that’s it’s enough for both so she didn’t seek love from her mother
