chapter 13-19

One call and response quote from the book “”Krik?” called my grandmother. “Krak!” answered the boys. Their voices rang like a chorus, aiding my grandmother’s every into her tale”. i can relate to this because in my household and in other people they too I call in response too it shows that the culture can be passed down from generation to generation.

chapters 9-12

One quote that really stands out to me is the one where ” My mother had somehow learned from someone at work that the Leogane Napoleons were poor but hard working clan” pg 78. Others can relate to this because it shows that Martine still has a lot of pull and know many things about the Haiti even though  she no longer lives there.

chapters 5-8

One quote that really stands out to me was ” Around us were dozens of other people trying to squeeze all their love into small packets to send back home”. This scene reminds me of me and my family as well because when it comes to sending things back home, we all ways try to send as much as possible because we know they do not have the same income like we do in the U.S.

Breat, Eyes, Memory 4-8

The point I am going to focus on is where the mother tells the story of them go out on the town. I could relate because me and my sister would leave and go to city without my parents knowing. I could also relate to the suitcases in the house because there are currently suitcases in my house that needs to get packed as well, and when you start packing you start to realize that you are actually about to leave.

Breath, Eyes, Memory chapter 1-4

In chapter one it talks about how there are crushed dried yellow leaves in the yard. This reminds me a lot of the dried banana leaves. Dried banana leaves are what Rastafarian’s used to smoke weed because some of them believed that the roll up paper was produced by the white man and they just won’t accept being dependent on something the white man produces.

Anthony Lawrence I, tituba

One part that I think is worth discussing is when Hester starts to talk about John Indian being no good and then Tituba still defends him. Even though this is all happening to her because of him. Then later on I feel like she starts to realize that he is the reason she is in this mess.

Another worthy point is how this book connects to the scarlet letter. Hester commits adultery in the scarlet letter and Tutiba gets to talk to her. Which the story of Tutiba seem more realistic.
