This semester we have reviewed Gothic texts from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, from both England and the United States. We have also spent time discussing and generating a list of Gothic characteristics based on these texts. For our final unit, you will use your knowledge of Gothic characteristics to create a list of 21st century Gothic texts.
- Each student will find one “Gothic” text (written or visual) that you would assign if you were teaching a unit in this course on 21st century Gothic texts. It should demonstrate one or more of the Gothic characteristics we have discussed in class. It should be relatively short and open/free or available through the City Tech Library.
- Before beginning your search, read about “O.E.R. vs. Free Materials” and “The Process of Attributing Authors” from City Tech’s Open Educational Resources guide.
- Reply to this post with the following information about your text:
- Title
- Author
- Link to the source
- Link to the license deed (if possible)
- Short paragraph explaining the text’s Gothic elements.
- Once everyone has contributed to the list, I will put the texts on our reading schedule for the remainder of the semester.
