Coming Midterms

So far I had been handling the work fine. Some days I have to sleep as little as 3 hours to be able to keep up with the assignments the professor give. For the coming midterms I feel like I am kind of prepared for. I will be needing some review time as usual to get good grades. Some of my classes assigned big projects that I feel like I won’t be able to complete along with the writing assignments for this class. However, I will try what I can do to get everything completed by the deadlines.

Midterms

so far in the I have been able to manage the workload from all my classes. However, things are getting to the point that i feel like i would lose control and no be able to complete everything. Between work, school and managing my participation in clubs and community service I feel that i would have to drop some of my extracurricular activities in order to mange the time I dedicate to my classes’ work and catch up and prepare for Midterms.

Derick Isaac, Thoughts on textbook chapter

Class,

What i like about the chapter is that we are speaking about how to communicate with the audience and as i’m reading the chapter the author of the textbook knows his audience are students. i feel connected to the text in the sense that i can easily use it as a guide because its speaking to me in the position i am as a student if that makes sense.

What I learned from Chapter 1

The thing I learned is that the writer must communicate with his readers constantly. Compare to writing essay to the professor in the college, the purpose of writing a report to the co-worker or the decision-maker in the company is totally different. They readers will give reactions which are shaped by their situation while they are reading.  And that will push writer to communicate constantly.

Thoughts on Chapter 1

After looking over some of Chapter 1, it brought to mind something my high school journalism teacher told me one time: He said,” Don’t worry if it’s perfect, just get it in, ” referring to my late writing assignments. He always mentioned that there will be deadlines to meet. In chapter 1, it states that employers would prefer the work to be 80 percent complete than 100 percent late. In some cases, the work may not be considered at all if it’s late–no matter how good it is.

Another aspect of the chapter that jumped out at me is the fact that graphics and visual design are employed to increase effectiveness, and that’s “right up my alley”. I took quite a few art and design courses, drawing  and painting courses. If I didn’t have to worry about supporting a household, I would have earned another degree in fine arts from Hunter College! Our instruction manual will be likely need illustrations, which is good.

Chapter 1: Thoughts

The chapter goes into how you must adjust the style and tone of your work for the reader. You only need to tell the reader what they need to know. Do not deviate from your point and stay focused on the main point of the writing. The information given must be useful to the reader.

Technical Communication Chapter 1

Chapter 1 goes to great lengths to show us students how writing that you do can be used to communicate to a reader rather than a teacher or professor. It reminds you that the writing you will do in the work place will need to be written in a way that has a purpose to communicate something useful and how the people reading this will digest the information.

Jose Guerrero Chapter 1

Dear class,

Reading chapter one helped me to understand the reader-centered attitude. I have never been great at writing reader-centered. I believe this chapter can help me work on my tone specifically. I am not good at changing my tone in my writing to get my point across. I hope that I can get better at this to improve my writing.

Chapter 1 Reading

Form this chapter, I got that it is important to adapt according to  the audience. In order to communicate effectively you have to ask yourself what is that you want to communicate, what is the essence of the message you want to convey to the reader. Constantly modifying your writing approach by placing yourself on the reader’s shoes and imagining his/hers reaction.
