As I can continue my research, to find more answers to my research question I found another article that interested me a lot.  The article is called ” How one film and one professor are inspiring and influencing deaf representation” by Fabio Lopez. How one film and one professor are inspiring and influencing deaf representation | FIU News – Florida International University   This article focuses on a film called “CODA” this film follows a 17-year-old girl named Ruby, played by Emilia Jones, who is the only hearing member of a Deaf family, as well as their sole interpreter. After discovering her talent for singing, she faces tensions that arrive as she is pulled away from her parents and brother in pursuit of her aspirations. This film sheds light on deaf representation in cinema. This article talks how there’s a lack in deaf representation in film but also around the world, and how there needs to be a change. In this article Fabio Lopez states “CODA has played an instrumental role in inspiring the Deaf community. John Paul Jebian — American Sign Language (ASL) instructor and adjunct lecturer at the Department of Modern Languages, and, to his knowledge, the only Deaf faculty member at the university — was jubilant when describing his and his student’s reaction to the film. “When students saw the film, they were excited. They couldn’t believe it and were telling everyone. It was a Deaf victory, it was a success to see that happen, and it was about time,” Jebian said.”   In short, the writer is telling us how this film has impacted the deaf community and has impacted many others that have seen the film, others now want to shed awareness to deaf people around the world and even use the right terms when around them.  People after the film were excited to see Ruby success story and that makes those people want to do better moving forward.  I love this article because it relates back to my research question. This film impacting people to wanting to shine more light on the deaf community. I want you as the reader to know that these films make us people do better and make us come together as a community to support one another. Films inspire others to become better than they are and that’s what I love about films sometimes they make you into a better person and make you do better things in life and you don’t  even notice it

As I keep researching for an answer for my question, I found this. I found an article by Ajay Rathod, and he seems to focus on how movies affect our human behaviors but also how they can make us better. In the article ” The positive effect of movies on human behavior” Ajay writes “Movies are a fantastic source of entertainment. They definitely add some spice to life and are great antidepressants: if you pick the right film to watch when you’re in a bad mood, it can save your day! Movies and the internet are getting people together. Experts have shown that those who suffer from social anxieties and find it challenging to find a common language with others can overcome these obstacles by watching movies. A film is always an excellent opportunity to meet new people and to strengthen relationships with old friends. Films encourage us to take action. Our favorite characters, superheroes, teach us life lessons. They give us ideas and inspiration to do everything for the better instead of just sitting around, waiting for things to go their way. Films about famous personalities are the perfect way to affect social behavior positively. Films are a source of knowledge. They can help learn what’s in the trend, find out more about ancient times, or fill out some knowledge gaps.” This quote shows how much of an impact film have on us on people and he gives many examples on how films make us better.  While reading this article I didn’t even know that films can have such a positive impact on us. I love how these films can make some one’s day better after having a terrible day or even how they help take initiative in our life’s. As the writer I want you as the reader to know how important these films are to us as people. These films can change our lives for the better and make us a better person overall. If these films, make us better as people then we will be even better as a society because we will be together as a society instead of always trying to tear each other down like how we always do. This article showed me a lot that I didn’t know before and it definitely connected with my research question.   Films make us do better and we don’t even realize it sometimes. The Film Industry is helping everyone

The Art of Quoting

“Yet many writers make a host of mistakes when it comes to quoting, not the least of which is the failure to quote enough in the first place, if at all. Some writers quote too little perhaps because they don’t want to bother going back to the original text and looking up the author’s exact words, or because they think they can reconstruct the author’s ideas from memory.” I like this quote because we usually think that these authors are perfect and do everything right, but they are just like us making mistakes when reading or writing.

“Be careful not to select quotations just for the sake of demonstrating that you’ve read the author’s work; you need to make sure they support your own argument.” I like this quote because during high school we had to annotate but I did it to demonstrate that I’ve read the authors work but now I annotate to make sure it supports whatever I’m doing. Annotating is important I’m glad I know that now.

“Finding relevant quotations is only part of your job; you also need to present them in a way that makes their relevance and meaning clear to your readers. Since quotations do not speak for themselves, you need to build a frame around them in which you do that speaking for them.” This quote helps me whenever I do quotations in school. When I quote something, I want it to turn out perfect
