Conclusion

In my research about Journalism on why they continue to do their job knowing that they could be killed? I have found that there have been many murders and being a Journalist is extreamly hard and you must move with caution 24/7 if you do contuine that path. What surprised me tremendously is that our president didnt stand up or defend Jamal Kashoggi when he was murdered. Instead he supported the cover up of the “accidental” death because he had an alliance with that country and it would have messed up his business if he didn’t seek justice for Jamal.  Mr. Trump refused to listen to the audio of Jamals murders it really surpised me because you would of thought if you were the precedent the people would matter more than the money since we are the ones with the money. But no it’s actually a very bitter world where the world revolves around money, fame and power. My question definitely deepened a bit I found my self finding more and more articles on the injustice of murders and learning that power is everything in this evil world without it you are nothing.

My question was asking why are these people still working as Journalists knowing the dangers but after reading the articles I even asked myself the question why shouldn’t these people continue their job they most definitely have my approval to keep reporting despite the dangers because I would. I say this because as a Journalist their basic right is being stripped away completely it’s being ignored as if it wasn’t even there. Our First Amendment is very crucial and look what happened to these reporters some of them are dead some, are being harassed or even arrested for what if it’s our basic right to say what we please whenever wherever. What I learned from these articles is very important because more awareness needs to come to these topics. We can’t stay shut if something doesn’t happen this will become a cycle of events and more innocent lives will be taken. I think the younger youth should get to know this topic because we are the next generation we are the next big thing and we are in a time where social media is used to find old family members or solve murder cases etc. Younger youth can most definitely bring awareness and most importantly change for everyone. With the help of social media and technology nowadays I think anything is possible.

Journalism is chaotic and dangerous but the question is why do Journalists continue to do their job knowing that they could get killed? Why put yourself in a life threatening situation just to report some news that question puzzles people and I as well. The article “Why Journalists take the risk to report from dangerous places: when entire regions are no-go zones for journalists, what do we accept as news?” Talks about taking risks and being incredibly brave. According to the article it says “People ask me why I take the risks that I do to do this job. We take these risks because we want to validate what’s happening around the world. We hope that by being there to document it first hand that it will bring truth and hopefully positive change.”  Being a Journalist is all about creating positive change and bringing awareness as it says bringing the truth out.  It is all about being real with the people and taking huge risks such as putting your own well being in danger for other people’s comfort and calm mind.

These people are very passionate about what they do for work, which is taking pictures and reporting around a lot of hate and people that dont want them around. They are committed to bring about change. The adrenaline of freedom is what keeps Journalists going. Unfortunately over the years they have been limited. “The organizations that sent us out there decided that they were not going to send us anymore, even people who wanted to go. You could really feel the noose tightening on our ability to work.” It’s insane that people would put themselves in danger for a passion and I think that Is beautiful. There are people that are willing to go to dangerous areas to report the truth. People have sacrificed their lives reporting and they’d do it in a heartbeat all over again if they could. In order to report a topic you would have to be in the area collecting details about absolutely everything and take everything in and take pictures of everything being there first person view to make sure you’re giving your all with the details you saw. Despite the dangers of Journalism people continue to put their lives on the line for a story regardless of the hazards. The unfortunate deaths of Journalists should be talked about more to bring awareness and inspiration to not be scared to speak up for what you think is right.

Everyone knows what the Bill of Right is but to those that don’t the Bill of Right includes Amendments and the first one known as the First Amendment it is the freedom of speech, the freedom to PRESS, the right for people to peacefully assemble, and freedom of religion. Freedom of the press means Journalists have access to public places and the right to gather information and disseminate news because they are free too and can and should. In “Opinion: Trump might see the media as his enemy, but Jamal Khashoggi deserves better” Talks about Trump and how he responds to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. It states ”This was not merely an attack on a Saudi dissident for political reprisal. This was an attack on journalism itself, a vivid demonstration of what some nations would do to the very concept of a free and independent press — torture it, kill it, dismember it.” Torture, kill it, and dismember it Is what is being done to Journalist reporting because they are speaking on sensitive information topics that they end up becoming a target.

They are allowed too; it is their basic right to speak on such topics. It also states “Saudi consulate in a clearly premeditated attack, and was then denied, covered up and called an accident before the Saudi government finally acknowledged it.” Murders are being covered up and being called accidents because of power. Information that the government doesn’t want us to know or fragile topics that are being surfaced to surface level even if topics are sensitive it’s still our right we are allowed too. Everyone is allowed freedom of speech and freedom of press. But power says otherwise our president Mr. Trump threw out Univisions News anchor Jorge Ramos out of a conference room in 2015 because he was asking questions. Mr. Trump responded with a racial slur afterwords, why is it that the president is allowed to get away with racism and xenophobia. Power is the answer anyone could get away with anything as long as they have power even the people that have been murdered such as Jamal Khashoggi. In 2020 62 Journalists were killed, which is more than enough. It is unfair that our First Amendments are not being met and Journalists are still being seen as enemies and threats to powerful higher people such as governments and Presidents.  This needs to stop and more coverage and awareness should be on this topic.
