Time Capsule

Hey Ale,

I wonder what you’re doing with your life right now. I hope you passed all your classes with good grades. STOP procrastinating and leaving everything last minute just like this assignment you’re doing right now. I hope you learned more Japanese words lol, and that you get into more hobbies like crocheting. Whatever you decide should be making you happy. I hope you learned how to write properly and stopped being less shy.

A picture of what I want to learn to make.

Tan Assignment

The third paragraph was about the ā€œdifferent Englishesā€ she uses. She was giving a talk about her book and she was using different terms that she doesnā€™t use with her mother. What she meant by different Englishes is a different way of speaking it. She still speaks English with her mother but just in a way she can understand.
In the fourth paragraph, Amy uses the English she uses with her mother and her husband didnā€™t notice it. She says ā€œIts because over the twenty tears weā€™ve been together Iā€™ve often used that same kind of English with him, and sometimes he even uses it with me. It has become our language of intimacy, a different sort of English that relates to family talk, the language I grew up withā€. When you spend so much time with someone you donā€™t notice the things you did before because you get used to it.
ā€œSome say they understand none of it, as if she were speaking pure Chinese. But to me, my motherā€™s English is perfectly clearā€. Some people might not be able to understand because of their accent. But for Amy, that grew up with her mother she might not hear an accent and she does understand her.
ā€œThe fact that people in department stores, at banks, and at restaurants did not take her seriously, did not give her good service, pretended not to understand her or even acted as if they did not hear herā€. I find this crazy and unfair how they treat someone differently just because of their ā€œbrokenā€ English.

One word

One word to describe how Iā€™m feeling about this course is nervous. Iā€™ve never been good at reading or writing and Iā€™m still not. I always procrastinate on my english assignments because I never know how to start. I hope this time I can do assignments on time. Also the thought of having to participate makes me nervous because Iā€™m a really shy person. But Iā€™m also excited to learn new things. I think itā€™ll be easier now that we have in-person classes.

Franklinstein

I decided to put this picture of my hamster, Franklinstein because heā€™s SOOO CUTE. Cutest hamster ever. This picture means something to me because heā€˜s so special to me and he passed away so these are the memories I have of him.
