Education Narrative Discussion

I think to be a education narrative genre is the telling of stories and experiences. It would of course need to be able to teach someone something you would have wanted to learn like in the three essays the class read. I’ve noticed that in all the essays, they’ve all talked about their lives specifically and how it affected them, they talked about how they were different from everyone else and how people saw and viewed them. They also talked about how they could change the way people saw them or show them that they aren’t so different. I think a good place to start with my own education narrative genre would be how I was born in Jamaica and raised here in America. I also had a tough experience growing here and problems of my own that I had to go through like the authors that we read.  Another thing I would also like to talk about is my passion of video games and how older adults believed that it causes the younger generation to be more violent, which I do believe is a greatly exaggerated statement. I can’t lie, my only concern is that I won’t have enough things to talk about for my life in general, so i’m kind of rooting for the video game idea. I really do think it would be a really cool thing to talk about. It could be very relatable to the younger generation because we just wanna have fun and people think it’s a danger to us. I want my education narrative to really connect to the reader when it comes to relatability and to educate them.

A very thoughtful response, Donovan. Keep in mind the education narrative has to do with an event or events related to education specifically in school. We’ll talk more about this in class.
