The way I interpret design when I first started was very subtle and relaxed. Coming into a school where I thought I would be doing more in front of the camera work but I was wrong. I learned about type and graphics. I previously touched this topic by doing Photoshop in high school but I knew so little about type. Type was very downplayed when I was in high school. I made a shirt for the AIDS walk one year and I look at it and see so many things I can be able to do with it.
My strong suit as a graphic designer would be creating logos with different type. As I am still learning about different typefaces, it is still astonishing to see how type was created. Learning about different weights of type still makes it so hard for me to figure out what type to use. Falling in love with typography with my first Type and Media class. The projects that we have done in there was incorporating type with our favorite superhero. That class was pretty cool and enjoyable.
My talents in the Adobe Creative suite has flourished into something amazing. I have never used Indesign and Illustrator until I got here. My first thought was how do I accomplish amazing work to put in my portfolio. I was not serious about starting a portfolio until I realized how much work I had already from other classes. Now that I am taking all design classes it has given me more opportunities to be more creative.
Essentially I want to become a news anchor in the future, but I also want to be a designer. The type of designer I want to be is a generalist. I want to be in the broadcasting field. Now that I know what goes on with type, I can be a helping hand to all on a specific news station or firm. I want to make sure all design aspects is covered on all areas.
