Reflection 1
What do you want your classmates to know about you? Consider sharing your goals as a college student, why you chose City Tech, what you hope to learn in your first semester at City Tech, or anything important to you. Read other classmates’ posts and help welcome each other by writing a response
Alex Dong-
I want my classmates to know I like achieving high and that I get good outcomes when I do. My goals is to pass and graduate also make friends. I chased city tech because half of my graduating class came and the mayor came.
Aiming high is always the way to go. It will especially be beneficial in keeping you motivated and driven during your college journey!
I enjoy learning and I am always open to help others. My goals as a college student is to get my bachelors in hospitality then go for my masters in education and teach culinary.
Those are two very good qualities to have, and they’ll surely come in handy during your college years. The hardest part is staying motivated. Great goals!
I know how to manage my time and like to keep my day organized and always plan ahead what I’m going to be doing and where I am going to be going, the start of my morning and even the night before. In my first semester in City Tech I would like to know how to navigate throughout the building and get more familiar with my classmates and know what my professors expect of me.
Time management and organization skills are so crucial! I applaud you for having these qualities, because I, along with many other students, struggle horrendously with time management. You’re heading into college with great self discipline, keep it up!
My goals for college is to successfully adapt to the school and turn in all my work on time. I hope to learn new stuff in architecture and try to get through my math class. Also get a job to start saving.
The transition from high school to college isn’t the easiest to adapt to at first, but, with time everything will fall into place seamlessly. It can be very nerve-racking and challenging at times, but try your best not to let any negative moments discourage you, because they definitely don’t last forever.
I am a first year student majoring in marketing and sales. One of my goals as a college student is to try my best in all my classes and be able to have a perfect GPA as well as learn about new things I am taught. I choose city tech because it is not far from home and i heard very good things about the school.
You have a great mindset going into college, however, aiming for “perfect” right off the bat might put more pressure on yourself than you may think. Being fixated on the thought of “perfect” will cause you to be extra hard on yourself, especially when things don’t go as expected. Aim high, but also allow yourself to be okay with a few bumps in the road along your college journey!
I chose city tech because I was recommended.
I hope here is where you flourish!
Very great first day, I’ll try to sit in the front next time
I’m happy to hear that you’ve had a great first day! College is where you’ll realize that sitting in the front row is the best decision of your life. If your goal is to succeed, that’s a crucial part in doing so!
My name is Elijah. I am a very calm person when it comes to pretty much anything like example conversing or problem solving, I just like to not stress anything especially little things. I like to find the positive and “funny” in situations i’m really big on humor. I chose City Tech because it is an easy commute and I decided to come here with a few other friends and also I was recommended it by teachers and other peers. I hope to learn what it means to have great work ethic.
What many students struggle with, comes naturally to you – calmness and optimism. These will be your best friends in aiding your sanity during college. It’s a struggle for many, so if you can help others in any way, try to share some of that positive energy!
My goal as a college student is exploring the different ideas that come around to my major and also reaching the success of a high education that my parents couldn’t do and doing it for them. I chose City Tech because I competed in a competition and won first place after 3 years. What I hope to learn in my first semester is how much can I take in school and bring it to the real world.
It’s very admirable that you’re doing this not only for you, but for your parents as well. When things get tough, always remember them to keep you driven!
Hey my name is Cindy and I’m also in the architecture program and I hope to see u this fall semester. I hope this program is something you expect and have fun.
Your name is very unique and lovely! Also, try to figure out a definite major within your first year of college, sometimes it can be a hassle later on and lead to complications.
I am Diana. I graduated from Queens Technical High School. I choose City Tech because it’s a great college. I also got recommended by my teacher; they were students here. This motivated me to accept this college. But I also love this college because of the location, and I love the surroundings. The goals I have as a student at City Tech are to be a successful student, have good grades, and push myself to do the best in every course, but have elevated self-growth.
You have very good goals! I love that you included self-growth. Having this type of mindset will allow you to accept your mistakes, learn from them, and elevate yourself a step higher than before towards achieving success.
My goals as a college student are to be punctual, excel in my degree and build a foundation for my career. I chose CityTech because of good academic credentials and family connections.
These are all essential goals towards achieving a successful future. Try your best to stay dedicated, and keep focused!
Hello my name is Jayden D, my goals as a college student is to learn more about the field that I want to pursue, and to gather more skills to help me out when I eventually graduate. I chose City Tech over other schools because I thought it would be a good fit for the major I’m in even though it’s not the closest to me. In this upcoming semester I hope to get a glimpse into the major I have chosen. I’m excited to see what the future has for me in this school, and I hope you have a nice day thank you for reading!
College is definitely the place to build your skills towards your future career. Try speaking to professors, specifically within your major’s department, to learn more about the field you’ve chosen. This can give you a little insight as to whether or not you’ll want to continue pursuing your major, which is better settled sooner than later. If you’re already set on it, great job! Also, it’s very thoughtful of you to acknowledge the reader at the end. Thank you!
My name is Ebony. What I want my classmates to know about me is that, I’m a very easy going person. I like to help everyone out, and I’m very easy to talk to. So, if you need help in anyway, please don’t be afraid to ask. Good luck to everyone on their journey.
Everyone could use a friend like you, especially during college. I, personally, would definitely appreciate your presence as someone who struggles with anxiety and is constantly needing that extra push to be a little more social and outgoing. One tip that could help you, and also help others, is to be the person who initiates conversation. Sometimes that’s all it takes to break down barriers and ease someone’s anxiety/mental status, as well as yours!
Something I’d want my classmates to know about me is that I like to draw and do graphic design
Some goals I have myself as a college student is to pass all my classes and finish most, if not all, my work on time. I hope to learn more information that will help me progress within my graphic design career.
-Alexander
You have great goals, and I love that you’re practical about finishing work on time. Being realistic, there are bound to be times where you’re rushing to catch the deadline, or you’ve missed it. Things happen, just make sure this doesn’t become a habit and you actively try to discipline yourself. I hope you don’t regret your decision of choosing graphic design, it’s awesome!
My name is Laetitia Garner. I am 21 years old. I went to Charlestown Secondary School in Guyana. Currently, I’m in the Liberal Arts and Science major but my goal is to do good this semester so I can transfer to the Nursing Program for the second semester. I chose City Tech because two of my aunts recommended it to me since they both went here and think it’s a really good college and also provide a nursing program.
We can never have too many nurses! You should be proud of yourself for transitioning not only from high school to college, but transitioning from a high school in a totally different continent! Very impressive and admirable. Never get discouraged despite any challenges you may face. I hope you succeed and you’re able to get into the nursing program!
Goal is to adapt to this new college and stay in touch with my professors. I would also like to get a job or internship based on my architect major. I would also like to get a better understanding of this school and where the different programs are located.
Staying in touch with professors and making yourself memorable to them is so important! It’s a part of college that many, if not most, students tend to forget. This has many pros to it, especially when it comes to internships or jobs. Great goals!

My name is Seriyah, I’m fresh out of high school and ready to commit to this new chapter of my life. My goal is to pass this semester with an exceptional GPA so that I’d be lucky enough to enter the nursing program the next semester. I chose citytech because it was recommended by staff at my high school, they expressed that some of their children went and graduated from here, letting me know that this is a good school… supporting my decision that citytech would be a good start for me. Also it is an easy commute here and back from my home.
