How online gaming has become a social lifeline
https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20201215-how-online-gaming-has-become-a-social-lifeline
I chose this article because I share an interest in gaming. As I read the article I thought it would be fun to illustrate as it talks about how during the pandemic people would socialize through games.
The article is trying to reach those interested in gaming and social life.
I want to have references to games that people who play games will understand. I also took different approaches that might reach those who don’t know about games at all but might be interested about the social aspect of it.
I started thinking about what the article addressed, which was how gaming connected people. One of the games it talked about was animal crossing so most of my thumbnails show ideas around that concept and how it connected people.

I chose this article because drugs are a social issue and lots of people are dying of it.
I want this illustration to appear in magazines either school or daily. I think students need to be aware of this phenomenon as well as parents.
Through this illustration I want to show the sad truth of using drugs. It intends to make people, especially students, take it more seriously because it really kills.
Thinking process started by hearing and reading about lots of death cases caused by fentanyl, and just trying to connect things.

CONCEPT: mirrors show us a reversed version of ourselves, different from how others see us. Many young people on social media use filters that help them understand this difference.
Some filters highlight imperfections we might not notice in the mirror, like uneven hairlines or crooked mouths. This can be strange, similar to how it feels when we hear our own voice on a recording.
Other filters make our faces look perfect and symmetrical, almost like we’ve had plastic surgery or used Photoshop in real-time. These filters change how we see ourselves in the digital world.

Title: How heat affects the body – inside and out.
Source: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/aug/17/heat-stress-heatstroke-temperatures
I chose this article because I myself suffer heavily from high temperatures from my own body as well as the sun, The side effects are very much proven in my experience and I want to spread awareness for the effects and how they may harm us as people.
The market that my illustration is supposed to reach is that of the everyday person looking to learn more about how the rising temperature of our planet will affect their day to day lives. As people’s attention spans are getting shorter and shorter everyday an illustration that is both eye catching yet whimsically relatable is what is required to not only attract that short attention span but keep it so that they read the article and inform themselves about the many side effects.
The first of nine showcases (Top Left) the sun and a person both steaming with the inside of the person being on fire. The second of nine (Top middle) shows the sun looming over a person who is hunched over and on the floor kneeling while the inside shows a skull and crossbones showing that they are not feeling too well. The third of nine (Top right) shows a close up of a person meanwhile they’re sweating profusely and the inside of them begins to light on fire in a sense shutting down. The fourth of nine (Middle left) is a further back view of the third one basically a continuation. The fifth of nine (Middle) shows a person that has sweat so much that they have started to float in their own sweat. The sixth of nine (Middle right) shows someone hunched over with the sun looming over them lighting them on fire almost like a magnifying glass focusing sunlight onto a stick. The seventh of nine (Bottom left) shows someone laying on their side creating a waterfall of sweat and unfortunately vomit as the effects of high enough temperatures basically lead the human body to purge itself of its food due to nausea and headaches. The eighth of nine (Bottom middle) shows a person stuck in a microwave waiting to meet an unfortunate ending, think hotdog in a microwave. The ninth of nine (Bottom right) shows a person and the planet both having an explosion go off on their head due to the rising temperatures that they’re both experiencing and on second viewing they look like chef hats.
ARTICLE TITLE: Why Football Fans are Violent
BY: Adam John
ARTICLE SOURCE: https://thesportsground.com/why-soccer-fans-are-violent/
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS ARTICLE:
The reason I chose this topic is because as a fan of the most popular and played sport in the world, I feel the need and responsibility to bring to light the toxic and discriminatory behavior of many groups of fans of various teams around the world. With this, I seek to make known the violent acts, crimes, betting, and corruption inside and outside the fields that, in a certain way, have killed a little of the magic of the most beautiful sport in the world, transforming it into a vice or business, forgetting that magic is within the courts.
WHAT IS THE MARKET YOUR ILLUSTRATION. IS INTENDED TO REACH?
My illustration is dedicated to all fans of football and sports in general. The objective is to send an honest message about the current situation of this sport and cause a positive impact of change through strong visuals that reflect a sad reality.
HOW DOES THE ILLUSTRATION YOU INTEND TO CREATE FIT THE MARKET YOU WANT TO REACH?
Well, football is the most practiced, watched, and popular sport in the world, so it must be able to break language barriers so that it has the required impact anywhere in the world. Being so popular and having fans who identify with this problem, posters would be the most effective way to communicate the message to large masses, large parts of the world, and athletes.
EXPLAIN YOUR THINKING PROCESS FOR YOUR THUMBNAILS
For the initial concepts, I focused on the world of football from my point of view as a fan of this sport, teams, and as a player himself. Thus, I was able to implement my own feelings and what I think about this issue of exclusion, discrimination, and toxicity in sports. I started with basic ideas of how it has affected players, teams, other fans, and off-court problems.
