Project #2 Brief:

“NEW YORKER COVER ART”

Create an illustration for the cover of The New Yorker.

The concept should reflect your interests and fit in your portfolio.

Use the following topics and prompts to create your art:

1.NYC Life: Broadway/Fashion Week/Book Week/Comic Con./etc.

2.Borough Life (Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island).

3.Current Events: Climate Change/Black Lives Matter/ Me Too/ Woman’s Rights/Politics/Voting Rights/Gun Control/LGBTQQ+

4.Holiday:  Halloween/ Thanksgiving/ Christmas/ New Years/ etc.

5.Seasonal, first day of Winter/ Spring/  Summer/ Fall.

6.Eustace Tilley (a conceptual portrait that includes butterfly).

7.Post Pandemic New York Life.

Project #2 Specs:

“NEW YORKER COVER ART”

•Illustration should be a positive reflection of NYC.

•You may combine prompts, for example: Springtime in Prospect Park, or Halloween in a NYC high rise.

•7 ¾” x 10 ¾” color cover art for the New Yorker.

•Leave room for the masthead (typeface will be provided).
