Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I’ve always had a love for art since a very young age. My interest in fashion began during my time in high school where I took a few beginner fashion design art courses. From there, I went on to major in Fashion Design and attended the Art Institute of NYC where I received my Associates degree. I later received my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology where I specialized in knitwear design. I worked in the fashion industry for many years learning the ins and outs of the fashion business. When I became pregnant with my first daughter, I decided it was time to switch gears and teach. At 7 months pregnant, I began attending New York City Tech to attain a Career and Technical Education teaching certification. I also have a teaching assistant certification and am working at a high school as a one to one TA for a special needs ELL student.
Currently, I am working towards attaining a career and technical education initial teaching certification in the fashion design content area. As a student at New York City Tech, I plan to use this site as a means to share my knowledge and experiences with other students who may or may not be on the same path as I am. I also hope to be able to have educational discussions and communicate academically with my colleagues through this site.
