    1. To create a new template open a New Document, then launch Adobe Illustrator and open a new document by selecting “File” > “New.”

    2. Set Up the Document and choose the size, orientation, and other document settings according to personal preference. Click “Create” to open the blank canvas.

    3. f you have a reference image or a sketch that you want to use as a template, go to “File” > “Place” and select your image file. Place it on the canvas.

    4. Adjust Opacity by placing the image selected, reduce the opacity by using the Transparency panel (Window > Transparency) or in the Properties panel. Lowering the opacity allows you to draw on top of the image more easily.

    5. Lock the Template Layer to prevent accidental movement or changes to the template, lock the layer. Select the template image, then go to “Object” > “Lock” > “Selection” to lock the image in place.

    6. Create a new layer by clicking on the “New Layer” button at the bottom of the Layers panel (Window > Layers). This new layer will be where you draw your illustrations.

    7. Start Drawing by selecting the new layer and begin drawing using the Pen tool, Brush tool, or any other drawing tool of your choice. Since the template layer is locked and at a lower opacity, you can easily trace or draw over it.

    8. Save Your Work once you’re done with your drawing, make sure to save your Illustrator file (.ai) to preserve all the layers and settings.

When you change the blend mode of a shape in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop, the way that shape interacts is altered with the shapes or colors beneath it. Blend modes control how the pixels of the selected shape blend with the pixels of the underlying layers. There are several blend modes available, each producing different visual effects. Here’s a brief overview of common blend modes and their effects:

    1. “Normal” The shape appears without any blending, completely covering the layers beneath it.

    2. “Multiply” Darkens the colors of the underlying layers, creating a blending effect. It is often used for shadows and to intensify colors.

    3. “Screen” Lightens the colors of the underlying layers. It is useful for adding highlights and brightening images.

    4. “Overlay” Combines Multiply and Screen modes. It increases the contrast of the underlying layers while preserving their highlights and shadows.

    5. “Color Dodge” Brightens the underlying colors, producing a dodge effect. It is commonly used for creating glowing and lighting effects.

    6. “Color Burn” Darkens the underlying colors, intensifying the image. It is useful for creating a burned or charred effect.

    7. “Soft Light” Similar to Overlay but with a softer effect. It subtly enhances the contrast of the underlying layers.

    8. “Hard Light” Similar to Overlay but with a harsher effect. It increases the contrast significantly, often resulting in vivid colors.

    9. “Difference” Displays the difference between the shape’s color and the underlying layers. It is useful for creating negative effects and finding differences between two layers.

    10. “Exclusion” Similar to Difference but with lower contrast, producing a softer effect.

    11. “Hue, Saturation, Color, Luminosity” These blend modes affect specific color properties of the underlying layers, allowing you to blend based on hue, saturation, color, or luminosity values.

To trace or draw a poster or picture in Adobe Illustrator, first choose an image, then click the file at the top, then select “open,” which will bring up a window to open. Choose your photo and edit the size to fit your preferences. You will notice “properties,” “Layers,” and “Libraries” on the right-hand size. Click on the layers; if they are not visible, click “Window” at the top, scroll down, and select “Layers.” By default, layer 1 will display the image you have selected. Double click on the picture icon that appears next to “layer 1”. It will display the “Layer Options” panel. You will be able to name the layer, you can choose its color underneath. Below are several options to “template,” “lock,” “show,” “print,” “preview,” and “dim images.” When you click the “template” box, an automatic prompt to adjust the image dimmer’s % will appear. Click “ok” when you’re finished. Click the “plus” button at the bottom to add an additional layer. Make sure you secure your template before you begin working and drawing to prevent interference or drawing on the incorrect layer.

You can change the way the colors of stacked items relate to one another by using a blending mode. For instance, you may offer more color contrast or make overlap parts either lighter or darker. The artwork can be altered with blending modes and opacity adjustments. Once you have quickly created an intricate form, become familiar with each blending mode.

To create a drawing template in Adobe Illustrator, start by opening a new document of your desired dimensions. Then, import your reference image by going to “File” and selecting “Place.” Adjust the opacity of the placed image using the Transparency panel to make it semi-transparent, which allows you to see your drawing more clearly when working over it. Next, create a new layer above the template layer in the Layers panel and lock the template layer. Locking prevents accidental alterations to the reference image. Now, you can begin drawing on the new layer using Illustrator’s various drawing tools like the Pen tool, Pencil tool, and brushes. As you work, remember to save your file regularly to safeguard your progress. This method enables you to create accurate and detailed drawings or designs by utilizing a reference image as a template while working in Illustrator.

When you change the Blend Mode of a shape in graphic design software like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, you adjust how that shape interacts with underlying shapes or colors on the same layer. Each Blend Mode produces distinct visual effects:

    – Normal: The shape retains its original appearance, covering what’s beneath.

    – Multiply: Darkens the shape and multiplies it with the underlying colors, useful for shadows.

Screen: Lightens the shape and screens out underlying colors, often used for highlights.

    – Overlay: Increases contrast and combines both shape and underlying colors.

    – Difference: Calculates the color difference between the shape and what’s beneath.

    – Color Dodge/Burn: Significantly lightens (Dodge) or darkens (Burn) colors.

    – Hard/Soft Light: Blends shape and underlying colors for different lighting effects.

    – Darken/Lighten: Keep the darkest (Darken) or lightest (Lighten) color values.

    – Hue, Saturation, Color: Modify only the specified color properties.

-Luminosity: Maintains the brightness of the underlying shape but applies the hue and saturation of the top shape.

Changing Blend Modes is a powerful tool for creating diverse visual effects, enhancing design elements, and achieving specific artistic results in your projects.

1.create a new file in adobe illustrator. to place your image on a canvas go to ‘FILE’ then “Place”. adjust the opacity to make drawing on the image easily. you must then LOCK the template layer (go to “object” then “lock”). create a new “layer”. select the layer and start drawing using your pen tool, brush tool etc.

2.layers carry a generic blend mode of 100% opacity so if you have two layers have entirely different colors but the same shape and size BUT there is one layer which is directly on top of the other, the blend tool will COMBINE both layers into each other.

Creating a template in Adobe Illustrator is a process that involves setting up a layer as a template and then locking it so that you can draw on top of it without accidentally selecting or modifying the template itself. First you would open or create a new document and once you have done that you can create or Import Your Template. If you have a template image, you can place it in your document by going to file then place and selecting your image. Then you will create a new layer for the template by opening the layers panel and selecting windows then layers if it’s not already open.Create a new layer by clicking on the “New Layer” button at the bottom of the Layers panel. If you imported an image, make sure it is on the new layer you created. Click on the small empty box to the right of the eye icon on the Layers panel. This will lock the layer, preventing you from accidentally selecting or modifying anything on it.Create another new layer by clicking on the “New Layer” button in the Layers panel. This layer will be where you draw on top of the template. Finally select the new layer and use the drawing tools to create your artwork on top of the template.

In Adobe Illustrator, the Blend Mode of a shape affects how it interacts with the objects beneath it on the same layer. Blend Modes control the way colors interact, resulting in various visual effects. To change the Blend Mode of a shape in Illustrator:

Click on the shape you want to apply the Blend Mode to then Open the Transparency panel then Go to window then transparency to open the Transparency panel. After that choose a blend mode in the transparency panel, you’ll find a dropdown menu next to “normal.” Click on it to select the desired blend mode. If needed to change the opacity you can also adjust the opacity of the shape using the opacity slider in the Transparency panel.

To create a template so you can draw on top of it in Illustrator first import the image you want by going to file in the menu bar and clicking place to select an image from your files. Size and position the image to your liking. Go to layers and double click on the view box beside the layer to open options. Click on the template checkbox to turn the image into a template. Fix the opacity to a suitable percentage. Doing these steps locks the layer and makes it into a guide. Create a new layer for your drawing and move it above the template layer. Select whatever drawing tool whether pen, pen curvature or pencil to begin tracing the image. This is how you draw on top of an image.

Changing the blend mode of a shape revamps how the shape interacts with other shapes beneath it. There are multiple modes that provide different results when combining shapes. These blends include:

    1. Normal- Just lays the shape over other shapes.
    2. Multiply- Darkens shapes and mixes it with underlying shapes.
    3. Screen- Softens the color of underlying shapes.
    4. Overlay- Combines multiply and screen to develop high contrast.
    5. Difference- Takes away the shapes color value from underlying shapes developing high contrast effect.

    Question 01 –

Describe how to create a template so you can draw on top of it in Illustrator.

To create a template from an image in Adobe Illustrator to draw from, start by opening the image file in Illustrator. After importing the image onto the artboard, go to the layers panel. Double-click on the layer that contains the image and select “Template” from the menu. This locks the layer, making it a template layer, and reduces the image opacity for reference. When the template option is checked off, another option becomes available that says “dim.” By default, it is set to 50% but you can change that to an opacity that suits your needs. Create a new layer above the template layer for your drawings. As you draw on the new layer, the locked template layer remains visible, providing a guide for your artwork. This method allows for separation between the reference image and your drawn elements.

    Question 02 –

What happens when you change the Blend Mode of a shape?

When you change the Blend Mode of a shape in Adobe Illustrator, you adjust how the colors of that shape interact with the colors underneath it. The different Blend Modes themselves will determine how colors in the selected shape will blend as they all offer unique blending effects.

Question 1: Describe how to create a template so you can draw on top of it in Illustrator.

    1. To create a layer to draw on it in illustrator you must open up the file you wish to edit. After opening your selected file, open the Layers panel (Window > Layers) to manage your layers effectively. Create a new layer for your template if one doesn’t exist already. Drag and drop your template elements onto the template layer. Alternatively, copy and paste the elements onto the template layer. Select the template layer in the Layers panel. Click the small lock icon next to the layer name. This prevents accidental edits to the template while you work on other layers. Create a new layer by clicking the “New Layer” icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. This layer will be where you draw on top of the template. Move the drawing layer above the template layer in the layer stack. You can do this by dragging the drawing layer in the Layers panel. Select the drawing tools you want to use, such as the Pen Tool. Start drawing on the drawing layer. The template layer will serve as a visual reference, and you can trace or use it as a guide for your artwork.

Question 2: What happens when you change the Blend Mode of a shape?

    1. In Adobe Illustrator, the Blend Mode of a shape determines how it interacts with the colors and shapes underneath it on the same layer. The Blend Mode alters the way the colors of the selected shape blend with the colors of the shapes or objects beneath it, affecting the overall appearance of the artwork. When you change the Blend Mode of a shape, you may observe various visual effects. ‘Normal’ is the default Blend Mode. Shapes with the Normal Blend Mode appear with their original colors, fully covering shapes underneath. “Multiply’ Multiplies the colors of the selected shape with the colors of the shapes beneath it. This often darkens the image. “Screen” changes the selected shape’s colors are inverted and multiplied with the colors beneath it, resulting in a lighter appearance. It is often used for highlights.
