Raster Vs. Vector and Image Resolution
We will begin by getting to know each other. The professor and each student will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves and share interests and backgrounds. We will review Class Syllabus and expectations for students. We will have a Question & Answer period.
Today, we will discuss the characteristics of Raster and Vector Files. The best use and best practices associated with them will also be discussed. File Formats, File Naming Conventions, and File Extensions will also be reviewed. We will begin to familiarize ourselves with Image Resolution.

Critique
Each week we will review homework assignments from the previous class. Students will participate in reviewing material and offering suggestions for improvement for their cohort.
Lab
Lab assignments are done during class time. This week we will review examples of Vector and Raster Files (one in black and white and one in color for each format) to be shared with the class.
Discussion
Each week you will need to respond to two questions posted. This is a requirement for the participation part of your grade. Each posted discussion counts towards your grade.
Homework Due Next Class
All work should be submitted by 11:30 pm the day before class.
- Read Raster vs. Vector in the Resources and make yourself familiar with the differences of each element. Also, read File Formats and Understanding Resolution notes to familiarize yourself with them.
