Since I am too lazy to think of another location as our walking tour, and Fulton Street (Mall) is the only place I am interested in Downtown Brooklyn; therefore, I think I will keep my location, Fulton Street (Mall) as my topic on my project #4. In this project, I will talk about this place “value”, probably the current and future value, and the personal value from people. And I also will focus on two vantage points, the owners of the store and the customers, to tell the importance of this place and why this shopping place should be in the walking tour from their point of view. However, I still have problem on this project; because Fulton Street is not as popular as Soho, there is not much creditable information on the internet. I might use the opinion on the blog, although I understand I should not do that, but they still shows people view on Fulton Street.
Analyzing user commentary on the blog can be useful, but you’ll need to look critically at what people write, rather than believing it as fact. There are many other places you can look to find stories about Fulton Street. For example, I’m sure there are materials about it at BHS. You might also look at the OpenLab Project “What Is Vaudeville,” which should give you a sense of some of the theaters that used to be on Fulton Street. It’s the work of students in a history course that also visited Brooklyn Historical Society, but looked at materials related to vaudeville and theaters. You might look also through the New York Times Historical database for the names of some of the theaters or department stores. Let’s talk to brainstorm about different research possiblities.
