After reading the article “A Haunting Old Photographic Process Reappears” by reyhan harmanci, I regonize the new trend of photography which is nostalgic. Many photographer starts to research wet-plate collodion and display their photo in old fashion way. The wet-plate collodion process becomes the most popular technique today. Companies uses this kind of photo to present their product. In this case, the photos are presents as black, white and grey scale which gives audience a sense of war.
Wet-plate collodion is a major photographic technique during civil war era. Photographers mainly used it to document war. Therefore, I think the reason why the nostalgic return to nineteenth-century processes because photographers want to presnet a feeling of war in a peace era. People loves to experience different feeling from their status. Also, this kind of photo casue people’s sympathy to the pass. Furthemore, when people see this kind of photo, it recalls the day of war which makes people compare to the pass and current. Therefore, people notices to born in a peaceful era is such a treasure to them.
