I think Arne Svenson’s Neighbors series shows what normal everyday life is like for New Yorkers. It’s realistic and unedited. He just pointed his camera and took photographs without asking the subject to pose and without adding props. I don’t think the photographs are an invasion of privacy. New York is increasing with residential glass towers so any of the residents that live in those towers should be aware and should know that they can be seen by other people from the streets or from other buildings. They should take notice of that and not complain. And besides Svenson doesn’t show their face so their identity is protected.
