I do believe that the selfie is an art. It makes the person who’s taking the photo be creative, and that’s what art is in essence. As the article has mentioned, self-portraits have been around since the first days of art, and the artist himself portrayed what he or she looked like on their canvas. And this is what modern-day “artists” are now doing. To some extent I believe that this can go either way considering some people might only take selfies to share with their family or friends with no regards of being artistic. Then there are those that are meant to be taken as a record and the person taking the selfie has to pose with what their hoping to capture, much like early photography portraiture.
