Photography has many processes, some have been forgotten and others make a reappearance. I think the reason for the reappearance of the nineteenth-century processes are because they’re different and give the photo a different feel. People have used old methods for their business and it has helped them. There are “apps” like Instagram where you can just apply a “filter” to a photograph with a few steps to make it look interesting. But other people prefer the old way and like to see the actual process and what it is like to make different photographs with different processes, it is also more convenient, “Recent collodion practitioners say that the disappearance of many types of film — Kodak ended production of Kodachrome in 2009, for instance — has made the old-fashioned techniques more practical”.
