Axonometric Mod 2
Notes on size, shape, dimensions, materials of Mod 2 drawings:
- Stone Exterior is made of blocks 8″ in depth and 16″ or 8″ in Height. In the Axonometric drawing start from the top with 2 courses of 16″ block, then alternate 8″ and 16″
- Air Space or Cavity is 2″ and should be free and clear of any debris or mortar. Air is a very good insulator and poor conductor of heat/cold.
- Rigid Insulation is 2″ thick, and is a bare minimum for thermal standards
- The Vapor or Moisture Barrier (shown as a dashed line) is a film or fabric and therefore has a very thin dimension (approx. 1/16″).
- CMU (Concrete Masonry Units) are 8″ in depth and are the support or backup for the exterior and interior wall construction. The CMU wall also contributes greatly to thermal resistance, reduces sound transmission and provides a minimum of 2 hours of fire rated protection.
- Metal Studs are 5″ in depth and about 3 1/2″ in width, and C shaped. Start by drawing them at each inside and outside corner and then between those draw at 24″ ON CENTER from each other. Some spaces can be smaller.
- Gypsum Wall Board (GWB) Is the interior wall surface and is 5/8″ thick. (Less than 1″, slightly more than 1/2″)
