I feel that shooting portraits by Brooklyn Bridge Park was quite intriguing to me. I felt like it was kinda tough and fun. In this location we had many options to work with especially that warehouse and the corner spot was great place to use flash and work with diffused lighting. The corner was dark enough that using the flash was appropriate to use. We had the subject completely focused on that you see the background blurry. There were shots were our subject back was facing the sun. For some shots we got direct sunlight and used the reflectors. The other thing we did was we used the reflectors to shine light on the subject. Some of the photos we completely messed up i had a hard time with getting the fill correct.
My picture of Oscar was successful because you have the Brooklyn Bridge behind him and the height of Oscar seems like he is as tall as the Bridge. Also, the focus is on Oscar for the most part and less on the Bridge. The focus being on Oscar makes the background look blurry which is what we need. As well Oscar’s thinking mood makes everything positive in a portrait. Everything in the picture is just dynamic and is appropriate for the portrait because it works.
