Gallery Review

#2 Photographer Pieter Hugo, the whole series of photo gives me a sad and desperate feeling. Majority photos are people’s protrait with strong eye contact towards the camera. Photo is shooting at eye level with clean and neat background. There is one photo i remember it most,  an old man and his right eyeball looks like about to fall out. Every detail on the face is nicely showed in the photograph.

#4 Photographer Nick Brandt, this project is about animal’s living enviorment had been destoried. All photos are in black, white and grey scale which is working great in this series of photo because photographter chooses elephant and lion as subject in this project. Photographs shows lot of ivory and when lion open its mouth and all white tooth show out. Therefore, the only white scale in the photo is animal’s tooth which gives audience to engage with animals’ anger and desperation. I remember one photo is a lion sitting there and looking further like searching for hope. What photographer makes it really stand out is he takes this photo from close look and low level, frame lion right at the center therefore gives the lion a huge and serious mood. Also, he focus only on the lion and using reflecter on it which the lion looks brighter from the background.

#7 Photographer Susan Derges, She is doing very interesting things in this project. She change background color by using different colors filter and combine them with the silhouette of leaf, bridge and trees. I enjoy looking at thosse photos because they looks like painting.
