My main qualifications include office organizational skills, multitasking, problem solving, and prioritizing multiple tasks. I  have fluency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Lexis Nexis, and Westlaw. My short term professional goals include obtaining employment as an entry level paralegal at preferably a private firm. I would to work at a large private firm in the intellectual property or estates, trusts, and wills department. Entertainment and sports management would also be of some interest to me.

The skills that are most desired by employers include organizational skills, writing, and computer software fluency. Employers are looking for detail oriented candidates that would be successful in proofing and editting legal documents and presentations. Employers also need paralegals that have flexible schedules and are willing to work overtime.

The positions that are currently available are, paralegal, legal assistant, and office manager. There are many small firms and  legal teams posting posititions available in these titles. They require excellent written and verbal skills from potential candidates. Furthermore, knowlegde of legal terms and jargon are also needed for these positions. Some of the content specific skills include trade programs such as, iManage, Elite/Webview, and Worksite. These programs are primarily document management programs. I am currently taking a Legal Technology course this semester. It is my hope that programs such as these will be covered in the curriculum. Unfortunately, my past employment didn’t require use of that software and I would really need that knowledge to be a strong candidate for these positions.
