Upgrading to Ev’s will be a huge step up for the environment as well as people. It will be more cost efficient. Charging an electric vehicle is cheaper than buying gas. With how the gas price is going up now things aren’t looking too great for our future. A lot of the car companies already started giving deadlines when they will stop making gasoline cars and will produce only electric vehicles. Making more stations of Ev’s will only encourage people to move from gas to electric vehicles. Having more stations they will have less worries about what if they run out of charge. But there will be a charging station nearby. I think it’s a good approach to save money as well as saving our environment.

Lightning strike protection (LSP) of aerospace structures have become a growing concern when air travel has been significantly increasing, particularly during the post-Pandemic era. Graphene thin film is an emerging material that can be integrated into carbon fiber composite structures to address this issue. This technology may have widespread applications in airplanes, wind turbines, and other instruments which are susceptible to frequent lightning strikes. Electrical discharge of the instrument in a safe manner is vital for the safety of the passengers (in the case of flights) as well as the integrity of the aircraft structures because of their specific mechanical and structural properties, which are essential for their functioning. The purpose of this project is to fabricate graphene thin film coated carbon fiber composite structures for the assessment with simulated lightning strikes.

This research explores the role of CAD/CAM software technology in order to optimize the manufacturing process. CAD software is used to create the basic geometry or redesign of the part at the ideation stage. CAM software is used to create the process and coding used to manufacture the part.

My research explores the preferred ways to reduce the machining time of a part, such as an engine block.  Reducing machining time is essential for minimizing production costs and maximizing profits.  However, today, some parts are more complex and have tight tolerances (such as aerospace components or medical device parts).  These parts may require more complex approaches such as multi-axis machines, cutting tools, and machining strategies.

The term “health literacy” is a bit of a misnomer. It refers to many problems in the healthcare system and solutions that are constantly changing. The bridge between patient awareness and effective use of health systems is health literacy. The aim of it is to allow patients in their daily lives to make positive health decisions. Around 90 million US adults are at or under the basic standards of literacy. That’s roughly the populations of Thailand, and Sri Lanka combined.   In round two of our research, we look at what is meant by health literacy and how visual literacy may help improve it. In this research, we look at how images help aid in understanding in cases where English reading challenges exist. We focus on posters and comics as forms of communication that rely on images as well as words—in pursuit of pictographic forms of health communication.

Hello everyone! My name is Xiaoqing Wu. My mentor is Dr. Indrani Pal. Our project title is “Investigating Water Usage Patterns tied to California State Water Project”.
California (USA) is the largest agricultural producer and one of the populous states in the United State. As the population and agriculture grows, water consumption patterns become crucial to keep track of especially surface water. Our analysis indicates that the total diverted surface water presents a periodic fluctuation, and the ARIMA model can better describes the fluctuation of diverted surface water.

The fashion industry has had a significant effect on the environment. Sustainable fashion is a movement to manufacture, create, and incorporate clothes into the fashion industry eco-friendly for all. But, how do I know if my clothing is produced sustainably?  In this research, we compare and contrast two different sustainable rating systems to understand how each system rates its products. The two-rating systems used are EarthHero and Good on you; EarthHero uses a series of icons that communicate the materials, manufacturing processes, and business practices used to create products. Good On You assign clothing and shoe brands a rating between one and five. Shoppers should avoid brands rated one and purchase from brands rated five. Both systems are helpful to consumers who want to buy eco-friendly products.

Hello! I’m Mamadou Balde, a student majoring in Electrical Engineering Technology. I’m passionate about our environment and the science that explains its intricacies. For that reason, I started doing research in remote sensing that covered both active and passive microwave sensing. I discovered that active microwave sensing is a solution to a lot of the deficiencies of passive microwave sensing. In active microwave sensing, the resolution is better because of the shorter wavelengths and cloud penetration capabilities allows for complete visualization of the surfaces being observed. I focused on the data retrieval and processing of Sentinel 1A and 1B satellites; I hope to count you on my list of supporters of a shared passion for the environment.

Our research project falls in the category of environmental sciences with specific focus on ambient air pollution. Air pollution impact both the health and economy of a Nation. For that raison, globally, genuine efforts are being made to limit or contain its negative effect. We investigated the effect a 2020 summer heatwave had on the two majors ambient air pollutants under federal mandate of monitoring: ground ozone and fine particulate matters. To quantified the pollutants variation, we analyze the dataset from the NYSDEC NYC and Long Island region air quality monitoring sites for a total of ten (10) consecutive days (240 hours) which included five (5) consecutive days (120 hours) of heatwave (Temp>= 90˚F). In Going from a “5-days” with average temperature of 84°F to another “5-days” with average temperature of 93°F, we found that the hourly ozone increased between [30 – to 57%] while that of fines particles matters increased between [112% – to 200%].

The opioid epidemic has kept a tight grip on Americans for the past decade. Over 300,000 deaths in the past 5 years were caused by opioids alone. In all overdose deaths across the nation, 2 out of 3 have been linked to opioids, according to the Center for Disease Control. The opioid epidemic does not discriminate and has affected all economic groups, social classes, ethnic groups, religious groups, and genders. My goal is to raise awareness about naloxone, an opioid antagonist that has been proven to be a powerful tool in lowering the mortality rate of overdoses. Naloxone is now available to the general public in participating pharmacies across New York City. Other resources are available to educate the public, including the STOP OD NYC app and the New York City Health Department website.
