Obey Clothing is a popular clothing producing company founded in 2001 by street artist and illustrator Shepard Fairey. This brand is well known for incorporating politically and socially provocative propaganda. Obey Men’s is designed by Mike Ternosky and Obey Women’s is designed by Grace Lee. The OBEY font is ‘Futura Std Condensed Extra Bold Oblique’, with tight kerning. Obey clothing is made in China, like jackets, jeans, jeans, and hats are made in Asia. OBEY means Do It Yourself, its counterculture of punk rock and skateboarding, but it also draws cues from the popular culture. Fairey steeps his ideology and iconography in self-empowerment. With the irony of reverse psychology, he uses the imperative “obedience” to guide the audience, paying attention to the propagandists bending the world to their agenda.
