1st Progress Report

an update on the progress of the Bindlestiff Show’s lighting design. After a discussion with Miguel Valderamma, For my culmination, I’ve taken on the responsibility of the design and programming changes of the lighting rig for the upcoming shows this Fall Semester. As of far, it’s been fun choosing colors and creating the color pallets and Gobo designs. I’m working towards creating an experience that looks good with each act and captivates the audience. Imagine a symphony of lights elevating the entire show. One challenge I have would be is that I’m a bit rusty with the lighting console. I haven’t used it much since last semester, and I’ve realized the importance of keeping those skills sharp. Lesson learned. I’ve started practicing to regain my confidence and get back into the rhythm.

Now, let’s talk about the color gel situation. Tracking down the right color gels turned into a bit of an adventure. Some were elusive, and when I finally found them, they were too large. That led me to cutting and adjusting the gels to fit the frame. Who would’ve thought lighting design would involve a touch of arts and crafts Despite encountering a few hiccups – tech issues, oversized gels, and being a bit out of practice – I’m making steady progress. Collaborating with it has presented its challenges, but I’m collaborating with Lauren Mahon on this project so we’re working together to ensure everything comes together seamlessly, Additionally, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to the design by providing input on two different gobos. It’s been exciting to have a say in these visual elements, and I’m already planning on making changes for the second and third shows to keep things fresh and dynamic., As we approach the show date, my focus will shift towards fine-tuning during tech rehearsals. Although I feel like I’m rediscovering some of the ropes, I’m embracing the learning curve. We all start somewhere. Being part of the creative process for the Bindlestiff Show has been incredibly rewarding. The collaboration with Miguel Valderamma and the lighting crew has been both enjoyable and productive. I’m confident that we’re crafting an unforgettable experience for the audience.
