Welcome to Week 11 of Advanced Strategies in Illustration!

So happy to be SEEING all of you this evening!  I am looking forward to it!

WEEK 11 CLASS PLAN:

Session 1: 6-7:15 pm

CHECK IN: – What’s your current status? How are you today?   Let’s take the class temperature… RESPOND in the Zoom POLL

DISCUSS WEEK 10 READING & LECTURE CONTENT:  What did Noah Bradley suggest doing to your portfolio in “Step 2, Making Awesome Work”?

CLASS PRESENTATION:  Can I have volunteers to present the video or other form of tutorial you posted The RESOURCES SECTION in response to the Noah Bradley interview?  What did you decide you personally need to work on to develop your portfolio and make it comparable to those you admire in the industry?   How did you come to this decision?

 

PROJECT TIME! :

As a REMINDER… Your FINAL PROJECT is to Prepare a Pitch Packet, Deck,(or other industry appropriate format) to market your Original Concept for further development or publication.

For today’s class session you were to come prepared with project ideas to share with each other.

Remember…

This can be a solo or a group project.

This can and should tap into your outside interests.

 

ACTIVITY:  Student Idea Speed Dating! 

Using BREAK OUT ROOMS Students will move into 3-4 person groups to share their ideas for pitches and workshop ideas together.   Groups will be assigned randomly.  Meetings will be only 5 minutes long… so speak quickly!

In your LAST meeting you can privately message me if you’d like to continue a conversation you began with another student.  I’ll pop you guys in the same break out room!  Be sure you have each other’s contact info if you decide want to work as a team.

Then, let’s wrap up by share your ideas!

EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY: *Personal Portfolio Development!*

FINAL PROJECT:  PITCH AN ORIGINAL IDEA

OVERALL PROJECT:  Prepare a Pitch Packet, Deck,(or other industry appropriate format) to market your creator owned, original concept for further development or publication.

You must not only come up with the IDEA, you must also come up with all the SUPPORTING MATERIALS to demonstrate that idea, and a PLAN of whom to show it to when you are ready.  So in essence this is a 3 part project.

 

FINAL PROJECT PART ONE DUE NEXT CLASS:

Prepare a ONE Sheet PROJECT PROPOSAL to pitch to the class.  You may do this as a team or solo. If you choose to work as a team, be sure to schedule collaboration time into your work week and be prepared to present your idea as a team.

Include in your proposal:

• a brief summary of idea

• an explanation of why it is engaging to you, and why you feel it would be meaningful and /or marketable.

• a clear targeted demographic for this proposed project

• a description of skills / media you see using to create the project.

 

*You will come up with a outline of the items you would like to prepare for the pitch, as well a timeline for completion during the next class. *
