Instructions for Story Maps

Step one
Go to: https://storymaps-classic.arcgis.com/en/
Select: Create Story
Choose: Cascade Map

Instructions

  • Begin with a bang – choose a strong image or GIF, or else a catchy title to draw the viewer in
  • Think about this as a story and make a narrative identity, with threads to weave through the presentation the viewer can sympathize with
  • Give the story rhythm
  • Use font sizes, styles, filters consistently
  • Try to use active and passive maps
  • Keep your work short and sweet
  • Create persuasive maps and a persuasive presentation about the   nature of the neighborhood and why the programming you suggest will engage them
  • To add the maps, you’ll create screen captures of the maps and add as Images. You’ll want to include the legend, so hover over the layer you want to show and the Change Style. The legend appears on the map typically. Take a screen capture of the screen with this legend.
  • To add a video of GIFF, copy in the embed code.
