For this assignment, I would try to educate the audience about depression in men, and why most deaths caused by depression are mostly men, as well as the cause and effects, process, reasons why men suffer the most, and stereotypes. In this topic, my audience is everyone, from men to women, to a higher power if possible, the president, who knows. the genre in this is fiction because all this information and statistics are based upon real-life situations all over the world and events in which these statements can be said with evidence to back them up. I choose this topic because mental health, especially in men, is rarely discussed, talked about, or resolved due to the stereotypes put upon men and in society’s POV, thus, this creates a more serious problem for suicidal prevention and attention on men, and it makes it less prone for men to reach for help. I would publish this text in mental health websites/articles, as well as in newspapers or sources that can reach every audience on the internet or a real discussion. I intend to start with statistics and proven facts that state how men struggle the most with mental health and the consequences of struggling long-term. some of my concerns while researching and putting up this text are the best resources I can find and pick, information such as statistics and such, as well as how will i be able to convey this message efficiently for my audience to understand, analyze and take consideration in what they learned, as well as the actions they can take to help improve/change social issues like this.

HW for 10/27
WRITE- my source summarized the definition of what racial profiling specifically is, it also comments on the groups targeted and communities, it also speaks about the timeline in which racial profiling was more popular, in the past, as well as now in the present. The author, David A. Harris states examples such as the late twentieth century in which African Americans were targeted by police and brutally harassed for a long period, even until today. The article also states questions such as, âDid racial profiling help police catch more bad guys and make us safer?â which answers that there isnât proof that it did. It also states the example of the racial issues after 911, in which many people started to target Muslim, Arab, and middle eastern people and call them words such as âterroristâ as well as harassing them and even beating them. The entire article sets questions and examples concerning racial profiling over the years and because of international catastrophes/conflicts
PASTE- (1)âlooking back from the distance of two decades, we know that this did not happen. Racial profiling did not end with the Bush administration; in fact, it intensified, even while it changed shape and took on new targets. But the tactic remained the same: using racial or ethnic appearance as an indicator of suspicion, followed by law enforcement engagement.â, (2) âWe do not lack ways to confront and root out this tactic and the damage it does; what we need nowâwhat we have always neededâremains the political will to challenge and change what law enforcement does on a basic level. We knew in 2000, and we know now, that racial profiling does not make us safer. It may make us less safe, as it misses its intended targets, blinds law enforcement, and serves as salt in the wounds that keep police departments and communities of color at odds and apart from each other.â
WRITE- The authorâs name is David A. Harris, and he attended the University of Pennsylvania. Their attitude towards the subject is serious and a huge concern for him since he specializes in profiles of injustice, in the article he generalizes the entire country and adds the world to it, explaining how these events of discrimination and profiling hurt communities and people which the opposite intentions, we can tell by how he states examples in which innocent people have been discriminated and beaten. Their primary audience is the people, other audiences behind this article can also be people with higher power or power that can help change these unfair treatments and be able to communicate messages like this to communities and change them for the better. I say this because he specifies the incidents and puts in detail the statistics and graphics which demonstrate the people being targeted, how long, and the quantities, which he writes with formality. I believe the author does not ignore any audience he is trying to gain as much audience as possible to spread this important information and create a change within society. Nothing happened on the date it was published (January 21, 2020) he probably just wanted to write about this constant societal concern.
The author was communicating his concern and feedback about true events and societal conflicts, as well as influencing others with the negative effects on people and/or communities that are racially profiled and create change. The genre perfectly labeled this article as something serious and real that has been happening in society and around the globe for a long period. The tone in the article is serious, it also states many statistics which clearly show that he wants to prove his point and create a concern for others. He uses Ethos for most of his article
Homework 10/18
The topic that I chose to do for this assignment is Racial profiling/stereotypes, this is an interesting and controversial topic because this happens all over the country as well as all over the world, that because of someoneâs skin color, background, and/or ethnicity, get discriminated and assaulted for that. We can look back at a critical event in US history that has caused a certain ethnic background and/or race to be targeted and discriminated against, for example, after 911 and having knowledge of certain terrorist groups existed, that mostly came from the middle east, people in the US started to racially profile and use stereotypes to label races from the middle east, calling them words such as âterroristâ and blaming them for such a horrible event that they had nothing to do with. In addition to, the recent pandemic, can also count as a critical event that impacted race since COVID began in a part of China, created chaos, and continues to spread around the world, many people began discriminating, stereotyping, and profiling Asian people for âstartingâ the virus, and not only did they target the Chinese that had nothing to do with it, but every Asian person around the globe, especially in the US, in which they would punch, beat up and even kill just because of it. In my research, I expect to find more information about where this racial profiling and stereotypes mostly start, as well as more statistics about the number of cases and violent cases around the world and the US. I would also want to learn about the races and communities that are most affected by these incidents, and what long-term effects can impact those groups of people. Adding to this, I could also research what the community that is being profiled or discriminated against feels, what are their opinions, and what they think about being targeted for that reason or for a certain reason of which they might not be aware. It is hard to find evidence against my topic because most of the information is backed up by cases in which a person of a certain background is stereotyped or profiled by some event that happened a while ago or has been recent. But If I do end up finding information that can contradict my topic, I will surely right about it and the reasons for it.
