Hw for 9/6

I believe that when Mike Bunn writes “You are already an author.”, he means that we use writing skills in our everyday life. For instance, when I ask my mother for anything, it’s likely that I use persuasive writing techniques. Techniques such as knowing my audience and mentioning pros and cons to my point. Another example of everyday writing techniques would be the assignments I get in my classes. I have written letters, reflections, research papers, etc. I already am an author because I create writing and almost, if not always, convey a message through my writing. Like in my academic writing, I usually give a small peek into who I am, that could be the “message”. This “authorship” that I already have can help me in my college reading/writing career by allowing me to improve on my past mistakes and be able to understand my audience more.

Something I would like to use of Bunn’s in my own writing would be perhaps a somewhat personal tone. Bunn adds a sort of comedic comment on pg. 71, paragraph 2. “I was pretty sure that if there was any trouble I’d be running down the back stairs, leaving the patrons to fend for themselves. I had no intention of dying in a bright red tuxedo”. I believe sections like this, adds a somewhat personal connection to the reader perhaps, which can result in keeping their attention. I would like to add this to my writing more to keep myself as well as the reader a bit more interested.
