Policies

1. Attendance

Faculty must record attendance on E-class folder. E-class folders must be submitted to the department at the end of the semester. Please follow the guidelines for keeping and submitting the E-class folders. Please note that you may not reduce a student’s grade for excessive absences or give a student a failing grade based solely on attendance. If you wish, you may include a “Participation” grade in your grade calculation.

Below is the Social Science Department attendance statement:

It is the conviction of the Department of Social Science that a student who is not in a class for any reason is not receiving the benefit of the education being provided. Missed class time includes not just absences but also latenesses, early departures, and time outside the classroom taken by students during class meeting periods. Missed time impacts any portion of the final grade overtly allocated to participation and/or any grades awarded for activities that relate to presence in class. Instructors may including a reasonable “Participation” grade into their final grade calculations for this course.

2. Academic Integrity Policy

All instructors’ policy for plagiarism and cheating must conform to the college’s academic integrity policy. More information about the academic integrity policy can be found in the Academic Integrity Manual. Below is the official Academic Integrity Statement:
