Syllabus Overview
Examines the aesthetics of major fashion designers from the 19th to the 21st centuries through lecture and study of museum clothing collections. Students will gain knowledge of historic fashion influences with application to contemporary and future fashion apparel.
Project overview
Pick one fashion designer in the book, âWhoâs Who in Fashion ,âand utilizing the format of your choice, describe what is it about that designerâs âaestheticsâ that personally appeals to you? What would you wear from that designerâs collection, how often, and with what purpose in mind? What âlookâ or âfeelingâ would that designerâs collection create in you as a person that appeals to you? Why? How do you think you would feel wearing that designerâs collections. Speak in terms of emotional connection, and the extension of your aesthetic. If you were inspired to create your own modern day line of clothing based on that designerâs work, what would you add to it or take away? Why. Describe how this designerâs collection beautifies you. Speak in terms of outer beauty and inner beauty.
