Syllabus overview
This course is an introductory survey of todayβs complex and consistently transforming fashion and textiles business environment. Students acquire basic knowledge of fibers, yarns, cloth construction, finishes, and embellishments necessary to determine quality and to make appropriate fabric choices for contemporary fashion apparel and home furnishings.
Project overview
For the final project, I chose textiles for 5 different consumers. Each consumer has 5 garments or textile items. Includes swatches from kit, and flats from Fashion Snoops database.
research paper overview
Each student is responsible for an original research project about natural dyes, with a related resist-dyeing lab. Student choose a natural substance for dyeing cloth or a garment, use a resist-dyed technique, and write a report that includes history of the dyestuff, a tutorial component listing your process, in-process photos while working, and conclusion.
