In any creative field, it’s crucial for an artist or designer to get noticed. Getting noticed is a great way to start as an artist or designer in the creative field. For most designers, promoting their work is important because it would introduce them to potential clients. It would show them who they are and what they are capable of doing in the creative field. In the creative field, clients are looking for those who have their own unique style that would show who they are as designers. Therefore, it is important to have your own style so that they can tell who you are and separate you from other designers.
One way to have your work noticed by others is to put it on social media. Displaying your works on social media platforms, like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest is a easy way to start getting noticed in the design field. Right now, I have an Instagram account where I show my illustration works. It consists of both traditional and digital illustrations. These illustrations are mostly character designs. I was quite nervous about putting my work out there at first. However, I stopped being nervous because I realized in this work field, one must not be intimidated. I use this Instagram account as a way to show my work to everyone.
Visibility is great for designers to start their careers, In order for your work to be visible, you must not be intimidated. You also have to be confident in your work. That was my issue in the first place when I was making my Instagram account. I was nervous of putting my work on social media because I was worried about what people might think of my work and if my work is not even good enough. I was not as confident in my art work as I should be. Instead, I was scared of showing my work. Then I realized that I am never going to make it if I am going to be intimated. So I got over the fear and I now show my work with confidence.
Once your work gains visibility, it would lead to you getting credibility as a designer. With credibility, you will have success, money, more work, and popularity. This would be a big step in your creative career because once your work is out there, there will be clients that would be willing to pay for your work and they are even willing to hire you to design for them. Like I have said previously, they are looking for designers with their own style. As long as you are in the creative field, maintaining your unique style is important in order for you to be separated from other designers. Your credibility would come from your unique styles.
There will always competition in the design field. No matter where they are in their careers, everyone is striving for the best in the field. First of all, you must have your creative skills, as well as know some know some non-design skills. The non-design skills are especially important for those who are freelance graphic designer. Some of these skills include entrepreneurship, project management, marketing, accounting, and making good relations with clients. It is also important to not be scared in the field. Second, follow a path that would best fit your strong suits. For example, if your strong suit is in animation and motion graphics, it would be best for you to go into the multimedia design agency. The third and most important thing to keep in mind is that you must always do your best. That is the greatest way to maintain your spot in the design field.
