Everyday some drivers lose focus or are intoxicated to even know what is happening. This causes life-changing decisions for multiple people and you are one of them. For self-driving cars, we are expecting robots to not have that lapse of judgment we humans have which can save countless lives since the autonomous cars can view 360 degrees.
Safety and Security are one of the few important aspects we demand when it comes to new inventions and especially when it is regarding which we are not in control of. Autonomous vehicles are new to the public and we are not yet ready for them because people still doubt if it’s even secure to drive them. In fact, there are tons of questions many people are asking and all these questions about what, safety, because not everyone has access to these kinds of vehicles and also the technology is strange for them . According to a survey Nearly made by Partners for Automated Vehicle Education (PAVE) , the result shows “3 in 4 Americans say autonomous vehicle technology “is not ready for primetime.” About 48 percent said they would never get in a taxi or ride-sharing vehicle that was self-driving. Another 20 percent think autonomous vehicles will never be safe.”
All these surveys are feelings that can be taken as the feedback from 90% of the population because the technology is not accessible to everyone therefore it’s hard to believe it which brings us back around the security issue. I believe more tests have to be done and proven to the public the security around these types of vehicles otherwise people will not buy them or even risk to put their self or family inside those vehicule .
Another fact of these cars security can be the sensitivity of the sensor vs obstacles because this is the only safeguard these cars can offer . I mean the fact that there is not a driver who can control the car physically in order to stop when there is danger , the only way will be the sensor . Furthermore, increasing the sensor sensitivity can save the world and these companies many tragedies because sensors can define how close an obstacle is to the car than define when to stop or turn over .
So, if we can be able to do this by using a cheap materials , i believe these Auto Company can also be able to increase the sensor at the way that the car can’t have an accident because they can even create an human recognition or obstacle recognition on these cars that way as soon they get close to them , they can identify the obstacle and already know what to do or how danger it is to touch these obstacle. Example an human , other cars parked etc because touching these things can cause the company and also the government therefore, they have to increase the sensor level and also obstacle recognition.
